Lions (7-9-1) vs Stars (10-6) Stars lead season series 2-1

Burgess put on a show in the first with a hatty, added an apple in the second. Turple had his second 4 point game of the season with 4 assists, unfortunately for him the other 4 point game was as a spare and those don’t count. Billard sniped 2, Ingraham had 2 assists and Parking Lot had 1 and 1. The Lions traded away some offence to help out with their league worst GAA, the offence was still there but so was the lack of D. New Year and it is time to question if the Lions defensive schemes are working in the new HRHL. Gallant scored the only regulation goal for the Stars with assists going to Murphy and O’Hearn but it was enough as captain Ryan came through in the shootout with the winner. The Stars are struggling on offence with just 1 regulation goal in their last 2 games. We have a game with a team that hasn’t been scoring a lot of goals against a team that give up too many. Oh Yeah, Icejam is this week so who knows what guys will show and what guys will miss.

Lions 5 – Stars 4

Oilers (9-6-1) vs Ratpack (8-8-1) Oilers lead season series 2-1

LeBlanc was given 4 goals and an assist but Daly informed us he scored so LeBlanc goes to 3 and 2. Veinot continues his post injury hot streak with 1 and 3. Bent scored 2 to maintain his 6 point scoring race lead. Daly and Webber each scored 1 and lone assists went to Redden and Morry. The Oilers are a bit too loose defensively but the scoring has been able to overcome that for the most part. Munden and Glazebrook continued their hot streaks, Munden had 2 and 2 and Glazebrook scored twice. Chappy scored 1 and single assists went to Cleveland, Heggelin, MacQueen, McNeil and States. The Rats are the leagues hottest team with 3 wins in a row.

Oilers 5 – Rat-a-Tats 2

Jets (5-9-3) vs Flames (11-6) Flames lead season series 3-0

The Jets traded for offence and 2 of their top guys missed this week so hard to tell how it worked out. Tracey scored the Jets lone goal assisted by Ross. They did hold strong on D without Turple to anchor them but fell in the shoot out. The Flames missed top D man Manson and it showed. The Flames allowed 5 goals for the first time this season. Baxter continued his hot play, leading the Flames with 2 assists, Bray and Fougere each scored 1 and Coombs added 1 helper. If all the Jets show their offence should be able to keep up with the Flames but until I see it, hard to pick it.

Flames 4 – Jets 3

10 Minute Misconduct Race:

1 – Veinot, Murphy, Messervey, Zwicker

Shootout Scoring Race:

2 - Ryan
1 – Messervey, Manson, Flinn, Gilbert, Corkill, MacQueen, Hill, Bray

Rookie Scoring Race:

21 – Manson
18 - Gilbert
14 – Iceton
9 – Newcombe
7 - Daly
3 – O’Hearn

Side Notes:

Tim Ryan is our new shoot out scoring leader, 2 goals in 2 tries.

Friday night lots of league guys have kids playing or are coaching at the Icejam in Bedford. Macs play at 7, Subaru’s at 5, Bandits at 6:45, Gulls at 7. Some guys will be coming in hot.

World Junior disappointment again.

I would never hope for Canada to lose but when you choose a dirtbag sore loser asshole as your coach that is what happens.

Steelers miss ad extra point and it looks like the kicker will be the reason they miss the playoffs, then the Baltimore kicker misses a 40 yarder to end the game.

Watching both the Canada game and the Steeler game with split screen, Czechia scored the go ahead goal and within seconds Baltimore scored a go ahead touchdown, I was questioning why I even watch sports at that moment.

Steelers winning reminded me why I do.

5 weeks less a day till the Super Bowl.

Olympics start that week.

Spring Training a week later.

Schaefer beats the Leafs, kid is legit. Could fill in if there is a D injury before the Olympics.

Anyone need some cheap tickets to Venezuela?

A bluefin Tuna sold for 3.2 million in Tokyo. WTF

Going back to work after the break sucks.

Going back to work when it is minus 12 really sucks.

I was the first 2 time guest on the Stars Friday night podcast, well run show, could be the next big thing.

I hope everyone had a great Christmas and New Years. Time to get serious about your HRHL team now.

After three weeks off I’m back in action this week. No worries, I’ve spent the time cultivating mass so I should be at peak performance level.

A stiff Breeze power outage,
The Stars annual Boxing Day Caroling night
And a family trip to Moncton. Yes, 5 days in Moncton and zero trips to Angie’s. Shocking for some of you I know.
My fancy cable has 250 TSN channels and still no HRHL feed, so I can’t comment on any of the games.

Timmy is still calling all the players in the league to find out when their birthdays are, what their favorite colors are, and what makes them smile before he makes his decision. He’s right smart

Weekly3 stars…….

3. Tie Gallant and therakauf
Larry scored the games only goal and was a dog on a bone after the puck on the forecheck all night long. This player is the stars top scorer for 26 so far so expecting things from this guy in the new year.
Dan 24 saves in the win over the jets, 3 more in the shootout and then buys the beer for the boys. With this kind of night it’s no reason to see why this player has fit it seamlessly onto the stars. He’ll be big in 26 as well.

2. Munden, 2 goals and 2 assists on his birthday. I thought it was a hattrick but I guess it wasn’t. This player is starting to heat up and is pounding people in the cy young race. Just what the pack ordered from Temu for 26 !!!

1. Leblanc , 4 goals 1 assist in the oilers last shot wins game vs the lions. This guys having a career year in the league, looking to hit the elusive 30 goal pace that rarified air hits. An impressive season for sure , and the oilers sure hopes this keeps rolling into 26.

Notes…..

- burgess is scoring a hatty most nights for the lions. He won’t tonight but he’s on an impressive run

- please refer to me as Mr. shootout or Timmy Toews going forward.

- Ice are killing people in the US. That country is sure doing its part to destroy tourism industry. My wife is going to Kentucky in a Few weeks. I told if they stop you freeze don’t move. Crazy shit

- Webber is a scoring machine as a forward, snipes two including the winner in our 45+ league.

-correction- Tony Clark was the first two time two time podcast guest, Webber was second. An impressive performance.

- Desi is on a roll

- rumour out of Ottawa spreading like wildfire. Ullmark caught cheating and rats out all the boys who are banging broads on the road. His wife tells their wives and all kinds of shit hitting the fan. If it’s true his career is done as no one wants a teammate who doesn’t know the bro code . Fuckin rat Li nus

- habs are fun to watch I must say, exciting players in all three positions.

- where is this fourth hole these chicks on Facebook reels talk about?

- it’s cold , it’s not cold , all this creates is fuckin mud in my yard

- new feature player profile Longo
Birthday may 17
Favourite color grey
What makes him smile….. a good joint, the love of a good woman and a Kenny G solo

-dolphins hire Troy aikman as an adviser on their search for a new Gm and now head coach. Why?
He’s a color guy on tv

- Leblancs flirting with 30 plus goals this year. Can he win the lamplighter award?

- Matthews is heating up now and leafs are climbing the standings

- ufc has paddy pimplett vs Justin Gaethie. This could be a banger

- any spares getting called to play yet ?

- I told you I wasn’t a fan of the world junior team. Over hyped, soft as fuck. How does Canada get out physically played by Czechia or anyone else. It’s time for an overhaul.

- Gavin mckenna is not impressive as they hype him to be. Ripping up Denmark and getting power play points is great but step up in thr big stage. Bedard did

- dressing rooms aren’t built for the Olympic venue. What a fuckin disaster this has been

- jays sign a Japanese third baseman okamoto , they say he hits like Ohtani. We’ll see!!

Stars /lions…….this matchup is very interesting, but I feel the stars veterans will lead them to a 5-3 victory over the lions. Red hot Larry with a pair, coming in hot Havey with a pair and the real deal score the goals. The defence and Dan do their part to solidify the win.

Flames/jets…..two teams coming off losses collide so I’ll say the flames will singe the jets 3-1. MVP candidate Baxter’s scores two and Newcombe scores the other. Grease does grease things in the win, several big saves.

Oilers/pack……. Two red hot teams collide and something has got to give. I think the oilers depth will lead them to a a 7-5 victory over the pack. Skinner, Gilesy with two , singles to Longo, mousek and redden and Glen battles his way through with 18 saves in the victory

Ps I thought the ratpack was actually called the Rattraps . Weren’t they ?
