Lions (8-10-1) vs Jets (5-11-3) Lions lead season series 2-1

Ingraham led the way for the Lions with 1 goal and an assist, Taiani and Flemming each scored one and solo assists went to Myrick and Burgess. We are down to the last round and three of the playoff spots seem pretty secure, the Lions with their win this past week have tightened up the race for the final spot. Could it come down to the final week of the season when the Lins and Ratpack meet for the last time? CBS is already asking if they can flex that game to the 10pm time for maximum viewership. MacIsaac scored the lone Jets goal with an assist to Ross. Maybe one to Glennie too. This could be the last stand for the Jets. A loss would put them at least 6 out with only 4 games to play, a win and they may be just 4 from the playoffs. The Lions held their opponents to 2 goals for the first time since October 17th, I like where they are headed with the traded players settling in.

Lions 4 – Jets 2

Oilers (11-7-1) vs Flames (13-6) Flames lead season series 2-1

The Oilers had the rare double header sweep this weekend. First they downed the Jets 3-1where Bent led the way with 2 goals, Corkill had 1 and LeBlanc the teams lone assist. League leading scorer Bent then abandoned his team for his wife yet the Oilers pulled off the upset victory on Saturday night over the Stars. Veinot had a hatty and Daly scored 1, single assists went to Corkill, Giles, Ingraham, LeBland and Redden. Glenn’s apple moves him to within 1 point of Grease in the goalie scoring race, could come down to the wire. League powerhouse Flames continued their winning ways led by baby puncher Bray with 2 goals and an assist. See Glenn if you need an explanation for the name. Net Filler continued his hot year with a goal and an assist and A.I. Curl had 2 apples. League sources are checking the tapes to see if Curl actually assisted on 2 or if his A.I. bots infiltrated the HRHL website, trust no one these days. Manson and Newcombe each scored 1 and assists went to Young LeBlanc and LaPointe, his first of the season. Talking to Ashley post game Friday and he was pretty confident in the Flames ability to walk away with it all. I trust him and would go with the Flames here but I play for the Oilers so..

Oilers 4 – Flames 1

Ratpack (9-9-1) vs Stars (11-8) Stars lead season series 3-0

The Ratpack were missing the Prodigy so you can guess the result. Glazebrook tried to salvage the win with a goal and a helper but to no avail. Statesy scored 1 and assists went to Hill and Flinn. Desi returns for the Rats this week where they face a team they have yet to beat. The tars struggled this week with the heavy schedule and lost both games. It was the Haverstock and Ryan show this weekend as Havey scored 3 and assisted on 1 and Ryan had a goal and 2 helpers. Poirier added a goal in the game against the Flames. If the Stars can’t get more scoring out of their depth players they might be in trouble come the post season.

Stars 3 – Rat Dicks 2

Shootout Scoring Race:

2 - Ryan
1 – Messervey, Manson, Flinn, Gilbert, Corkill, MacQueen, Hill, Bray

Rookie Scoring Race:

23 – Manson
21 - Gilbert
16 – Iceton
12 – Newcombe
7 - Daly
5 – O’Hearn

Side Notes:

The missed games could be played but only if they matter for getting into the playoffs, not for seeding. This week’s games are the round we missed.

It occurred to me that if the Ratpack and Lions are down to needing those 2 points to get in that their opponents will likely forfeit. I can’t imagine getting enough skaters out when for either the Stars or Flames at 11pm on a weeknight when the game means absolutely nothing to them. We might have to take a look at this again.

Maybe we should just have a head to head 1 game playoff if 2 teams are that close, they would at least have a reason to show.

Bo Nix wins the game to go to the AFC Championship and breaks his ankle on the games second last play. Congrats Patriots, you are going to fluke your way to another Super Bowl.

Anyone want to coach football, lots of openings?

Parity has hit the HRHL, no team is close to an historic season in points, most or fewest, no team is close to scoring or allowing the most or fewest goals and no individual is close to the record goal, assist or points pace. Veinot’s 58 point rookie record seems secure too. Tim Boyce’s 47 points for a D-man is also out of reach although he may have played a few games up front.

Most assists without a goal? This year Cleveland and Donkey are tops with 7, Murphy went 0-23 in 2016. That record may be untouchable.

The Prediction Pool looks like it will come down to a race between Longo and Tim. Could it come down to their head to head game on January 30th?

Snow blower broke down, shovelling is no fun.

Bye Bye Bo.

Is Bellinger the next Jays target?

Lamar Jackson is on the trading block. Where do the Steelers sign up?

Watching the Sens home game vs the Habs and almost the entire crowd are Habs fans, all these years and the Sens still have no loyal fanbase. NHL in Canada’s small markets is doomed.

$100,000.00 for the HRHL, seems a bit pricey. I was hoping for a 10% off registration per guy for a year.

1. Lions vs Jets — Prediction: LIONS

Why:
• Lions just beat Ratpack and have been more competitive lately leaguelineup....
• Jets have only 5 wins in 19 games and the lowest GF in the league leaguelineup....
• Lions have more scoring depth (Burgess, Messervey, etc.) and better recent form.
Projected edge: Lions by 1–2 goals.

2. Oilers vs Flames — Prediction: FLAMES (Slight Edge)

Why:
• Flames are 1st place with the best GA in the league leaguelineup....
• Flames have beaten the Oilers multiple times this season (e.g., 4–0 on Nov 14) leaguelineup....

The Lunn’s Mill Beer Co. Stewtenni-Ale HRHL POWER RANKINGS as we begin the final round of games in the regular season and count down to PLAYOFFS:

6. Jets (The runway left for this crew to take flight is getting shorter by the week…)
5. RatPack (The Pack fell victim to a trap game last week.)
4. Lions (The HartCats know the time is meow to make a move.)
3. Stars (Still right there in the hunt.)
2. Oilers (Feeling slick coming off a big 2-win weekend.)
1. Flames (The Flames are heating up again…)

Weekly 3 Stars……

3. Manson, rookie sensation scores 1 in the flames battle with the stars last week. This player moves like a gazelle with the wing span of a pterodactyl , and was a force defensively in neutralizing the stars snipers. Flames need this guy playing 27 minutes a night in their quest towards the playoff run

2. Logan , 38 saves in the lions must win game vs the pack last week . This player has had a great season in keeping the lions competitive and they need him moving forward. As they say your goalie is your best defender , and lions need him to keep it up as they chase a playoff spot

1. Ingraham, Glen, what a week for this guy, 3-0 counting the 45 + league. Starts off stealing a game from the jets with several acrobatic saves and jets in 1 goal.
Next night defeats the stars and lets in 2 goals and another win last night lets in 2 goals . That is goaltending you can count on and the oilers are thrilled with theirs right now. This goalie is on a great run and it’s only positive news for the oilers heading to the dance

Sorry to steal your thing but I wondered what GEMINI would say about our games. I love the Messervey part...

1. Oilers vs. Flames (The Top-Heavy Clash)
The Matchup: This game features four of the top five scorers in the league.

Stats to Watch: Mike Bent (Oilers) is arguably the league's most balanced player, while Marc LeBlanc (Oilers) leads in pure goal-scoring with 23. The Flames counter with Nick Baxter, who is the league's premier playmaker (28 assists).

Outlook: Expect a high-scoring affair. The winner likely takes the inside track for the #1 seed.

2. Lions vs. Jets (The Upset Potential)
The Matchup: The Lions have David Burgess (20 goals), who can change a game single-handedly. The Jets rely on a more spread-out attack led by Graeme Ross (26 pts).

Stats to Watch: The Lions have struggled with discipline (check Craig Messervey’s PIMs), while the Jets play a much cleaner game.

Outlook: If the Lions stay out of the box, Burgess might lead them to an upset.

3. Ratpack vs. Stars (The Defensive Grind)
The Matchup: The Ratpack are led by Ja-red Glazebrook (23 pts) and veteran Desi Munden (21 pts). The Stars’ top threat is Ian Haverstock (28 pts).

Stats to Watch: The Ratpack are currently 8-9 on the season, making them a true "wild card" team. The Stars have more depth in the middle of their roster.

Outlook: This will be a battle of the veterans. Look for Munden to be a factor in the dirty areas in front of the net.

Fun Fact: Ryan Veinot (Oilers) holds the modern league record with 79 points in a single season (2020), but Mike Bent is currently on pace to give that record a serious run if he stays hot through the playoffs!
