| Flames (14-6-1) vs Ratpack (10-10-1) Season series tied 2-2
We have seen time and time again throughout the years that when a team has a dominant season and late in the year they face a team desperate to get points to make the playoffs it is hard to match the energy of the lower seeded desperate team. Could the Flames fall into this trap 2 weeks in a row? Newcombe and Phil scored for the Flames, Ashley added a shoot out goal. Curl Manson and Strong all added helpers. The top scoring line in the league (Baxter/Bray and Fougere) were held pointless for the first time this season. Note to Curl on the Flames, I don’t think AI made any actual selections for you last week. Nice write up but no conclusion. The Rats were led by the dynamic duo of Munden 4 goals, 3 apples and Glazebrook, 1 goal 3 assists. Statesy added 1 and 2, McNeil had 3 tertiary assists, Pudge sniped twice while Hill and MacQueen each had 1 and 1. Flinn added a couple of helpers, Parsons scored 1 and single assists went to Kerr and Chappy. Lots of scoring with 11 goals just a week after allowing 11. Eddie had a heart to heart with the team in a rousing pregame speech and it seemed to have pushed the right buttons. Can he do it again? I need to gain 3 points in the pool so time to take some underdogs.
Rataholics 5 – Flames 3
Oilers (12-8-1) vs Lions (10-101) Oilers lead season series 3-1
LeBlanc had 3 goals, Veinot 2 and 1 and Bent had 2 assists not to just lead the Oilers to victory but to move within one point of the Flames top line in the top line scoring race. A highly sought after honour. Sto dropped back to D for the ailing Redden/Mousek combo and produced 2 apples and Daly scored a beauty. Billard has come up huge for the Lions 2 weeks in a row now. 2 more goals in regulation and a shoot out one as well. Ingraham had the shootout winner and assists went to Donkey and Bear. The Lions kept pace with the Rats, can they do it again this week, or will they get a win and pull ahead by a couple. So much intrigue these last few weeks.
Oilers 7 – Lions 4
Jets (5-13-3) vs Stars (12-9) Stars lead season series 3-1
It is always a sad occasion when a team is officially eliminated form playoff contention and that sad day has arrived for the Jets. They went out on a limb grabbing last year’s MVP in with the second overall pick but found out it is hard to create offence when you draft 11 defencemen. Despite the lack of offence Ross has still put up great number for the Jets and continued this week with a goal and an assist. Messervey had 2 helpers and single goals were scored by MacIsaac, Orser and Proctor. Ryan led the Stars with a goal and an assist, Gallant and MacDonald each scored 1 and an assist went to both Holt and O’Hearn. Jets had a short bench last week, is that a done with the season sign or just a one-off?

Shootout Scoring Race:

1 – Messervey, Manson, Flinn, Gilbert, Corkill, MacQueen, Hill, Bray, Billard, Ingraham, Ashley
Rookie Scoring Race:
25 – Gilbert, Manson

Side Notes:
Anyone in the Prediction Pool can pay their $20 now. Email it or pay cash. Ingraham and Perry have paid so far.
After way too much deliberation and arguments it has been decided that the missed games are just that missed games. They will not be made up, there will be no one game playoff. If two or more teams are tied after the remaining games are played then we will go to the tie breaker rules to decide who gets in.
Going forward, games missed on Friday nights will not be made up, no more rescheduling, no forfeits not taken. If a game is missed by both teams it is done, if forfeited the win goes to the team that shows up.
This does leave just one tricky situation where the rink could lose power during the games, in that case any games completed will count, any game that has had at least one full period played will be made up the next time these 2 teams play each other. Yes this means you could play 3 periods on a Friday night. Any game that has had less than a period played will be cancelled and the next game these teams play will be a 4 point game. If they do not play again we will go back to the previous time they played a full game and make that a 4 point game. All players are eligible to play in the situation where a game is being finished, even if they missed the first period of the delayed game.
Things are tight in the HRHL, not just the fight for the final playoff spot which has the Lions and Rats tied.
Top scorer is tied at 46 points between Baxter and Bent.
The rookie scoring race is tied at 25 between Gilbert and Manson.
Prediction Pool lead is tied at 38 between Longo and Timmy.
Leblanc leads Haverstock by 1 goal for the goal scoring lead.
Grease leads Findlay 2.65 to 2.94 in the GAA race.
MVP might be as tight as it has ever been, lots of great candidates but no one standing out above the rest. Bent, Baxter, Bray, Happy Havey, M LeBlanc could all get votes. Not sure about cranky Havey though. Burgess, Munden, Glazebrook or Turple are also in the race but until one makes the playoffs it is a tough vote to cast.
Top D was kind of a given with Turple blowing away the competition the last few years but with Manson and Gilbert in the mix it is a toss up.
So yeah Tight. These last 3 games will decide a lot.
Super Bowl this weekend, horrible teams but still a good party.
10 new head coaches in the NFL hired for next season, how many last just the year?

3. Leblanc, scores another hattrick and re takes the lamplighter lead. This player seems to kill the stars every game so maybe we need to tighten up on him . Anyways approaching a rare 30 goal season that few players seldom hit is a definite milestone in this tough league .
2.Billard and Logan,
Two weeks in a row Billard scores most of his teams goals , 2 and a shootout beauty gets the job done for the red hot lions . This player is re energized as a forward and management is loving it.
Logan, he must’ve made 50 saves in this game as the flames weee pushing hard. He also shut out the line and then made enough saves in the SO to win
Great performance
1. Munden 4 goals 3 assists in the packs smashing of the jets . Imagine they gave up 11 last week then scored 11 this week. This guy has quietly put together a solid year after a bit of a slow start . This player is paramount to the packs making the playoffs and doing a little damage once they get there
