Jets (5-14-3) vs Flames (14-7-1) Flames lead season series 4-0

Time to pay up boys, I am not at the games this week so etransfer or bring it next week. Thanks for playing. Dukey scores the Jets lone goal, his first of the season. Dukey goes for hip replacement surgery after this week’s game, the entire HRHL wishes him a speedy recovery and we hope to see him back and ready to roll on Sept. 11, opening day 2026/27. Croke and Pecarski assisted on Duke’s goal. Just 2 games remain on the Jets schedule and then their off season begins. The Flames are just a point away from clinching the President’s Trophy. This is a battle of opposite ends of the HRHL season spectrum. Bray led the way for the Flames with 2 goals and 3 assists, Baxter was given 2 goals and 3 assists but the league is investigating how this is possible as Bray had an unassisted goal and they only scored 5. Did a ref get paid off? Is Stuart in on the scam? I sure would hate to see a scoring title be decided by a phantom apple. Fougere chipped in with a goal and an assist while Coombs and Curl each had an apple. We think all the other points are legitimate but with this cloud hanging over the Flames we can’t be sure. Either way the Flames are a heavy favorite this week.

Flames 4 – Jets 0

Lions (11-10-1) vs Stars (13-9) Stars lead season series 3-1

The Lions are on a roll at the exact right time, 4 wins in a row giving them their longest streak of the season. Burgess dominated this week with 3 goals and 3 helpers. Ingraham had 1 and 2, Turple had 3 assists, Billard scored twice, Taiani had 1 and 1 and solo assists went to Flemming and Taylor. Havey had his second 8 point game in 3 weeks, 4 goals and 4 assists this time. He is now just 3 points out of the scoring lead with 2 games to play. Could the Art Ross come down to the final game of the season as the Stars and the Flames play head to head? The goal scoring race that seemed tight is now Haverstock’s to lose as he has a 3 goal lead. Havey has also played 3 fewer games than the leader but as they say availability is one of the most important abilities so we can’t put to much into games played. Gilbert had 2 and 2 for the Stars to take a 4 point lead in the rookie scoring race. Manson has played 4 fewer games but see above for my thoughts on availability. These guys also play each other in that season finale, might not be a playoff spot on the line but lots of awards will be decided. Ryan had 1 and 3 for the Stars, Iceton 1 and 1, Murphy 2 assists, Tony Clark banged in his second of the season and solo assists went to MacDonald and Poirier. A Stars win would clinch a playoff spot, a loss would put them right in the thick of things with 1 week to go and the top team in the league left to play. Almost seems like a must win. I however need to win a pool and that would require a Stars loss so that is how I am picking.

Lions 4 – Stars 3

Oilers (12-9-1) vs Ratpack (11-10-1) Season series tied 2-2

Veinot led the Oilers with 2 goals and 2 assists, Bent had 2 goals, Corky had 1 and 1, Webber and LeBlanc each had 2 assists. Daly Mousek and Redden all had 1 helpers. Mousek also had the biggest hit of the HRHL season, it went unpenalized as it was against his own team. Longo is in recovery. The Oilers need one win in the final 2 weeks of the season to clinch a playoff spot. They hold the tie breaker over the Lions but the winner of this game will hold the tie breaker between the Oil and Pack. Man it is a tight race this year. Munden and Flinn each had a goal and 2 assists in the Ratpack’s miraculous comeback over the Flames. Parsons and States each scored 2, 2 assists went to Cleveland, MacQueen and McNeil and solo’s to Glazebrook and Hill. No team of the 4 fighting for the last 3 playoff spots can be eliminated this week but both the Stars and Oilers can clinch. Buy your tickets early for next week’s season finales, should be exciting stuff.

Oilers 5 - Ratdicks 3

Shootout Scoring Race:

2 - Ryan
1 – Messervey, Manson, Flinn, Gilbert, Corkill, MacQueen, Hill, Bray, Billard, Ingraham, Ashley

Rookie Scoring Race:

29 – Gilbert
25 - Manson
18 – Iceton
14 – Newcombe
9– O’Hearn, Daly

Side Notes:

I have but 1 side note this week because it brings me so much joy I cannot think of anything else. The Patriots sucked in the Super Bowl. I couldn’t be happier. Their schedule is loaded next year, they likely won’t make the playoffs. If they play like they did in this game they definitely won’t make the playoffs. I have hope again.

By my math the Stars have already clinched. Because between Lions and Pack, one team can get max 4 points and the other max 3 points, even if the Stars lose out they will be tied with either Lions or Pack. They have the tiebreak over both.
So it's official, they are in and they don't have to try on Friday. Take the night off Havey. Individual awards don't matter...

Lions

Weekly 3 stars……

3. Parsons, 2 goals including the winner as the pack forms arguably the greatest comeback in league history. This was vintage parsons as his deke moves are second to none and the goalie bit twice and was dangled. If the pack can sneak in the playoffs this guy will be expected to use his championship experience to lead the club

2. Gilbert, the leagues top rookie and best defenceman highlights this fact last week and scores two and adds two assists in the stars assault of the lowly jets . This player has the wheels, the shot, the passes and the defensive acumen to lead the stars to the championship they seek. If he doesn’t clean up the hardware at the league banquet the RCMP should be called as it’s a crime.

1. Burgess, havey tie.
Burgess 3 goals and 3 assists in a tight must win game for the red hot lions . The leagues premier two way player was dominant in all facets of the game last week and the lions need him in their quest for the final playoff spot . The lions opponent this week will be well aware of this players abilities and will watch him accordingly

Havey, 5 goals and 3 assists for his second consecutive 8 point performance in the last cycle. He can score on rippers, tippers , chippers then he decides to thread the needle watch the fuck out. I knew it was gonna be a good night last week as after two shifts the stars had 23 shots on goal. Persistence pays off. The leagues MVP will surely play a huge role in the stars quest for mission 4 W and a title.

Notes…….

- kudos to Logan last week who played for the jets. He ended up facing 84 shots and played solid throughout

- the comeback by the pack last week was insane, expect an Amazon documentary

- haveys wins the PPG title by a mile, will thr scoring title be added also or will Baxter hand in to win???

- if Bellicheck isn’t a HOFer due to spy gate , can the flames really win any individual awards after assist gate???

- man team Canada looked good yesterday, all four lines scoring. Imagine facing McDavid Mackinnon’s Crosby as the three centers to start a game. It’s great to see best on best
Please dummy the Americans

- that downhill skiing is fucked watching from the drones view. They are going fast as fuck down the icy hill. No wonder they crash

- since moving Billard to forward the lions Have watched this guy fill the net . He will be watched in tonight’s game closely

- is the bridge traffic getting way worse?

- tired of this fuckin snow , please bring the heatwave on

- my driveway banks are high , running out of real estate

- crime 101 new movie out looks good with Chris Hemsworth Halle berry, great cast

- what’s the record for 8 point games in the HRHL ?
Havey could’ve had 15 last week but we let up

- baseball is back!!
I see why bieber was so quick to settle with jays . He wasn’t passing a physical anywheres else

- Super Bowl was great if you love defence . Pretty boring game and the bad bunny may go down as one of most talked about shows ever. I never heard of any songs nor understood them but my wife said it was great. She’s a wack job so take that with a grain of salt

- love listening to all these NBA guys tell stories of what a shit talker Larry bird was. I always loved watching the bird play

-2 weeks to go , pack and lions may as well lose tonight so next week is for all the marbles baby!!
Has to be moved to the 10:00 game too, it’s only fitting

Jets/Flames……. Jets are paying 7.4 on proline to pull the upset. Not happening here unfortunately as the flames roll them 5-2. Bray with a pair, Dan , Baxter and Manson do the scoring , grease makes the saves in the win .

Stars/lions…….. stars take this one 5-3 to officially clinch their playoff spot . Havey makes the scoring race interesting as he scores 3. Larry keeps his hot play going and Gilbert score the other in a total team win.

Oilers/pack……. This one could be an attendance battle as both teams are missing key players. However I think the no Desi is a big one to over come so oilers win 3-1. Venoit bent and Leblanc twinkle the twine and goalie Glen is brilliant
