| Winternats hasn't started yet Chris. It's not until the first weekend of next month. So this Sunday there's a race. Beg and plead to see if your thoughtful parents will splurge and front you some money for a transponder, then all you have to do is find one at a hobby shop (another problem on it's own) If it doesn't happen, at least come down and watch the races, you'll learn a bunch from watching the guys. Hope to see you soon.

| What an awesome day. The clouds scared me a bit in the afternoon but nothing came down. My second place in the A-Main was bitter sweet. I would have rather won, especially after being TQ. But I fought my way back up to second after some pitting problems. I almost caught Joe, but a shot bearing slowed me down bigtime, so I had to hang on for 2nd. Kristian was almost able to catch me, but time ran out and he took 3rd. I also ran the fastest I've ever run (16.63), look out DJ :) Congratulations to Joe de Jesus with the A-Main victory. His consistency is what gave him the win. Alex Serrano also posted his first victiry in the B-main, I know he was happy about that. I know the C main winner was also a newcomer, I'm sorry I don't know who it is, but it will be posted shortly with the race results. It was good to see all the new guys out there. I hope you guys can keep the excitement. I had a blast helping like 3 guys at the same time in the C-Main and pitting for Howard (2nd Place, WOOHOO!!) and coaching Alex during his run. Andrew (rough day buddy) and I had to make sure we kept his nerves down. I think today went off without a hitch. A nice mix of new and experienced guys. See you all in a few weeks.

| DJ, I think there were a few more racers in the C main that did not have transponders, I could have sworn there were more than 3 guys on the track. It was a nice turnout for a series race, even with few of our vets missing in action. A few guys who registered for the Novice class actually qualified for the B main, much to their surprise. They may not realize it now, but the higer main they make it to the easier it is to finish most of the time. You have more consistent drivers which makes it a bit easier to make it through cleanly. I hope everyone goes through enough withdrawal and gets excited for Race 3. Joe, don't practice the day before the race anymore, we can't have you breaking any of those hard to find Kyosho parts :P Next race is on the 20th of Feb. See you all then.

| Hello to all: The New Comer for the C Main was me. I was very happy to take part in your series race. I was also Joe de Jesus Pit-Man as I have been so for almost 15 + years on and off. Joe and I have been racing on and off for 20 + years. Back in the day we were known as "El Clavo y El Martillo" mostly for our ability to take each other out in a race or heat or practice. So you will not find us out on a main together too many times. I do not consider myself a competitive racer. At almost 40 yrs of age I am coasting through this hobby and enjoying it for the first time. Maybe just maybe I will wake up in the next few races and give you boys a run for your money. Until then you will seem me in the C Main. P.S. What is up with the non transponder people on the C Main. My victory on Sunday means nothing. Technically I raced against no one. Again I was very happy to take part in your series race. Andy thanks for a great day !

| Glad you made it. Don't worry, you're going to start enjoying it much more. Especially since you brought in Joe the "Ringer" He drove great. You can't just let him whoop you like that. :P You'll see your times improve greatly at first. You'll make it to the A main before you know it. The trick is to finish. No matter what, just finish. When Joe's car stopped handling, if he pulled off I would have won. If I would have pulled off when my car got screwed up, I wouldn't have gotten 2nd. Now that you don't have those 5th scales you're going to see how fun this is when there's 30 people to race against instead of 5. SEe you in a few weeks.

| Eric,
I know what you mean... having competition brings out the best in ones race... having a fast driver next to you only helps you go faster and drive cleaner...
This was my first actual race since a long time ago! (4 years?) So Yes, I have been racing for a while..
Back many years (at Pats Track) I was competetive, managing to win the Local Track Series races and the biggie State series races...
This past Sunday in the Main race, The adrenalin rush was awesome... I haven't felt that feeling in years..

There was two other guys that registered for the novice class and helped me out in the last race (I don't remember their names...) but Thanks a million.

| What's up Jonathan? I know you're at a disadvantage after switching to the 710, but man you really need to get those times down. Time to tighten down those lines. You need to start finishing a qualifier so you can make the A-Main. 16 laps usually gets you in, and you know you've done it before. Time you start taking Andy's approach when he's having an off day and just try to make the A in qualifying. Once you make it, anything can happen. Sorry to call you out, but looks like I need to motivate you. So get with it buddy.

| That's a good choice you made Juancho, once you learn the car you'll be very happy. I just like to give the Serpent guys a hard time. Everyone knows how I feel about this stuff. Most of these high end cars are the same, if they're setup correctly, you can drive just as fast with any of them. With Serpent you'll have lots of trackside support with Andy and Serpent USA always out there. Don't be afraid to introduce yourself to them. Except DJ, he's a pain in the A$$ (just kidding) All those other rules still apply. While your car will be faster now, the most important thing is still to finish. That's why you made the B-Main that day, because you finsihed your qualifiers. Your times do need to improve, but that will come as you practice more. Just build the car carefully and you'll be set. Good Luck. See you in a few weeks.

| Yes true most cars will do well given good setup plus driver. I however also look at other things because the car must also suit driver and be practical for the average driver to run. average driver= 1. needs support (local) 2. strong car 3. included hop-ups (value) 4. ease of adjustment and assembly (tune options) 5. room for growth (potential) 6. quality (model details)

Skywalker - to carry on the fight. Together with his mentor - Yoda (D.)they will continue to hone his skills until he is ready to challenge the Dark Side for supremacy!

| I too have sensed a disturbance in the force. The darkside is strong, but as a Jedi, I shall hold them to be true and be true to themselves for someday they will return. I have foreseen.
Anger, Negativity, Deceit, Yellow bellied (Sorry couldn't think of anything that begins with Y.) the path to the DarkSide of the force. Wait, do I foresee that it (A.N.D.Y)...??!! The DarkSide clouds everything.

| improvements Guys this weekend the weather was great and I was able to spend a little more time getting aquainted with my new engine the Mega ZX12. The track side trees on left are cut down and this has really helped in keeping the track clean. Joe dejesus was out there Sunday with his serpent 710 getting ready for this weekends race. His lap times are getting better and better every time. The track had a great bite almost getting the cars to traction roll. This is good news since we didn't have to spray sugar. We are also starting to place the outside boarder on the track with plastic bumpers in the critical areas. The pits already have it in place. We also now have 12volts available at the tire truing station to help those who need it. We are also getting a new high capacity compressor as well to keep your cars clean.

| Thank you guys .. for the positive track comments. Sometimes its good to hear that. I will coninue to improve as I can. DJ I hope everything goes well for you friday and hope to see you on Sunday.
Erick power isn't everything. Don't make me pull out my 20.00 engine! I'll pinch the hell out of this rusty thing and run it on water as fuel just to prove a point. LOL
In any case I have found that this Mega engine has a temper problem. You better be pointing in the right direction when it decides to scream! I need to calm this baby down for smoother throttle control at R.P.R. You can actually spin your tires. I may need to change pipe and do some more clutch adjustments. Having power is one thing...getting it to the ground is another. I think i'll get it to behave.

| Andy, we have done a lot of testing with the mega and clutch work. If it is to agressive, make sure you have the stock flyweights and the yellow shoe. If it is too aggressive put less gap. maybe .6 or even .5. I personally like the aggresive bottom and use .711 or .75. You can also try the black shoe, if it is still too aggressive.

| I did some work already and calmed it a bit. using stock fly weights and black shoe plus spring tension a little less. Also did some gear changes and suspension changes as well to keep the rear planted. If theres enough traction maybe i can go a little more agressive on the gap settings. My settings now are a little docile around .5 This thing was ripping teeth off my spur gears when I first installed it with my initial settings. Didn't like 61 at all.

Assembly was finished "successfuly"... (Hell it only took two weeks), A bit overwelming for newvies, but nothing patience and a bit of thinking wont overcome (Standard settings are flat on mm line and tweak is "0"... I shanked a bit the body holes, but my engine wont be complaining for lack of air).
I hope these settings can absorbe my 25 sec something laps :-?.

| Yesterday was almost perfect. DJ was blazing fast. He had some pit troubles and I was able to keep away most of the race. But apparently I had a disgruntled pit man. Another week where "Speedy" Gonzalez (My Dad) didn't fill my tank up all the way, and the one lap lead I had evaporated along with my fuel.(nice huh?) After I restarted, DJ and I were then on the same lap, we'd swap positions every time we came in to pit. But he got me on the last one. I didn't come out clean on my last pit, which allowed him to close enough where he was able to come out of his last pit just ahead of me. My car wasn't handling this week so I couldn't keep up after that. To really make things worse, my rear belt snapped with about 3 minutes to go. I did all I could to keep Andy away and just barely did it. Half hour makes a big difference. If it was a 20 minute race I would have had it in the bag. But it goes to show that you can't give up until the end. Next week is another race. I hope we can get some more drivers out. We were a few short this week. See you all next Sunday.

No hard feeling. I do not know how many laps I was out, but man I could not make them up. I lost first gear and was going to locksecond, then i decided to replace it instead. Had fun and hopefully more people will come next time. I am not sure when I will be back out, as naples is up in 2 weeks. Maybe we can get a lot of the miami guys to race the naples state race. | Well what a day..I know a-lot of people were expecting rain and the race gods gave us a everything except rain. Wind, clouds, and plenty of leaves. I guess we were lucky but not lucky enough to have all the racers show that usually race. We did however race and it was fun. Anytime I’m on the track its like therapy. Personally my car was not up to spec. My suspension and throttle response were not the way I like it. The car was able to run so that’s the way I ran it. The 30 minute A mains were set up and we started. I played it safe while Eric and DJ battled once again. I just stayed out of trouble and paced a steady race which payed off when the other drivers had trouble with their cars leaving me in first position. DJ stripped a gear (not really sure what happened to Eric). I knew DJ being a Marine would fix his car and put it back on track. I stole as many laps as I could and then kept a pace that was slower but enough to keep the lead with the time remaining. Played it safe until the end. In the last few laps DJ did come up on me and I should have let him go by since I was ahead by quite a few laps. Instead I messed around with DJ too much and we tapped each other and my car turned off. I should have known better than to mess around at the end but no big deal that’s racing and things happen. I still had enough of a lead and ended in first. Congratulations to DJ in second and Alex Serrano in 3rd. Guys I am going to attend the Naples state race…I am getting some of the guys together so we could help each other at an event. If interested in going please let me know. It should be a-lot of fun. Guys all i'm doing is staying in the race and taking advantage of any opportunities as they arise. Staying in the race is number one priority! Of course I would like to push the car faster but sometimes the car, track, traffic, or the countless things that need to be perfect wont let you. Kinda reminds me of the "Turtle and the Hare" story.

| Just wanted to share something with you guys. We all know that the track was not in good shape this weekend. We just wanted to run and have some fun. We had rain in the week and since there was no sun, we did not even sugar the track. I, knowing this, set the car up at the house. I left everything the same as always, but changed the shock set-up. I ran a slightly heavier oil, but the softer springs. It helped keep my car stable on sunday. Somehow I even turn a 16.5 lap, lucky I quess on that lap. congrats to andy on a smart race. I ran over the burm and stripped my first gear.

| What DIDN'T happen to me is more like it. First the day started and I couldn't tune the engine. Maxy said there was no compression. So he pinched it and it wsa much better. Then qualifier #1, I'm on TQ pace and the 1st gear housing slips the one-way bearing. I noticed it last week and tried to salvage it, but no dice. So I DNF. Qual #2, TQ pace again. Midway through, car starts hooking to the left accellerating out of turns. Kept spinning me around. I pull in and Alex takes the lead. Everything looks fine so I try to finish to make the A-Main. Made it just barely. Upon close inspection, the stupid little pin that holds the universal broke. I've NEVER seen that before. OK so I fix that. Then while tuning the engine for the main, i notice smoke and oil coming from under the head. The damn thing was loose. SO I tightened it up and the engine finally runs right for the day. OK so I start the main in 5th and get by everyone and take the lead. I was pulling away and everything. DJ had a new setup that he didn't like. That was for a whole TWO laps. My side belt snapped on lap 3. Came in put a new one on. Went back out in dead last. Passed everyone once(except DJ) and was looking for another round of passing. when I clipped something and broke a universal. I forgot to mention that during warm up I SMASHED into one of the boards at the end of the stretch and bent the universal. So one little hit snapped it. I could have switched the Uni and come back in, but it wasn't my day. I just packed it up. Oh well. I probably wont make it next weekend. But my flight gets in at 11am, so if I'm not dead tired I could still come race. We'll see.

| Guys after this series (one more race) i will have races just for novices on sunday and experts (pro) will run on sat. The idea is to get more novices involved by holding races just for them.
The idea also is to have more experts race. Factory drivers sponsered ect..together on Sat.
WHY?? Guys our local pro drivers are fast (very fast). I assure you they are some of the fastest anywhere. The Winternats brings in some of the best in the world in a once a year event. Even there they took 1st AND second place. This is no joke. I think there should be a seperate "invitational race for these racers". In a seperate occasion one of our drivers went to a state race missed the Sat qualifiers then TQ on his first run and won the whole race arriving on sunday. This is at a state event with 80 plus touring drivers! again no joke! I saw this comming a while ago and i'm going to establish these races for them.
We will have our normal (for humans) races on sundays.

| Thank you for the "not human" statement (Non taken)... For further consideration "The student is always better than his master".... EVENTUALLY
I think it wil be better idea to have "Track Assistance" for novices on Saturdays involving the Pros and more experienced drivers, rather than having a bunch of guys turning blind laps trying to figure out the car and the track (Driving lines, Passin techniques, Propper Pitting, Car Set ups.... Endless List). Then we can held a regular race on Sunday (Where all novices can drool watching DJ turning 16 flats).
We the "not human" novices (Again, "None taken") drivers usually get a lot of help from you guys (And it looks-feels sincere and voluntary); so what about rolling the ball around to get more "Barbie Lap turning" novices and make this "CLUB" a big "LOCAL TEAM".
I know you held seminars a few weeks ago and I'm pretty sure it was very helpfull for the people that attended, I personally, will gladly pay a higher fee on practice days to get direct coaching and advise... It is just to hard to brake the 20's pulsing the car around the track.
I have been an active member of a few local clubs in other sports, and I sincerely think that this club has tons of potential and is growing in the right direction (Awesome job Andy), but I think we "all" can make it more than a good time on Saturdays and Sundays.
WHAT DO YOU THINK???...

| Juan, just to let you know, when I go a saturday, it is more to help you guys, not to run my car. I already have my car where I want it for the miami track, so practice is not as necessary for me at the Miami track. I go more to help you guys, especially with the 710's and motors. See you guys in a couple of weeks, I am going to naples this weekend, hope to see some of you there, it is fun to experience other tracks.

| The idea Juan is to focus more on the novice. No pro races sunday at all. only intermediate and novice. what I mean by pro is really "expert". the experts will run at end of day Sat after practice for everyone else. There are only a handfull of guys that can compete at that level anyway so we have plenty of time. I will focus a-lot more on the NEW driver. The people who go have a good time on the weekends and go to relax as well.
I will personally go to the state race as well. But I will focus on creating more local drivers before I send the ones I have off to other tracks. Most of these guys are not ready for that type of competion which require money and time beyond the novice level. No more racer burnout! State competions are a more serious type of event. You must walk before you run.
I will personally spend more time and hold racer practices, semminars ect. I'm sure DJ will help as well. I want this to be a close nit club where everyones on the same page... things will get better. I do the best I can with what I have. For things to improve we need more novice racers and support for them.

DJ I saw you on Saturday helping a bunch of guys (I have had your help too in different occations), just wanted to use you as an example, and believe me... YOU ARE AN AWESOME ROLL MODEL.
All my comments above is just a refflection of a first hand look from a novice point of view... it can be at some point intimidating for a first timer to get to the track and see how advanced the level is (Good formation, but scary).
Again guys, and sorry for extending the pharagraph, this is a very complete and complex sport, your advise and support is very well appreciaqted.... I think I have learned a lot in a very short time... THANKS A LOT.

Doesn't even make much sense because the plugs are identical looking. think of it this way, this is the order from hot to cold, 6c,6f,7c,7f (6c being the hottest, 7f being the coldest of the ones listed) I've had best luck with 6F & 7F when using 30% fuel. It's pretty much trial and error. Plug requirements change depending on ambient conditions. Here's an article on glow plugs that should help you understand them better. http://members.lycos.nl/helisonly/GlowplugHowTo.PDF

| Since this is the popular topic: Can some one please ellaborate a bit about tire trueing???
Like proper diameter if you are using the same tires for qualifying and race, or race only.
I heard 62 rear / 60 front to use only one set, or 60 rear / 59 for main only...
Ah, by any chance does any one know what kind of file is needed to round the edges?

| Tire size is a headache of it's own. A larger diameter will give higher top end, but might make the car feel sluggish. On a track with high high, traction, like Ft. Myers during the Winternats, tires that are too big cause the car to traction roll. A smaller diameter tire was required to prevent this. Smaller diameter makes the car have less top end but quicker accelleration to compensate the loss of top speed you can run higher gearing. With smaller tires car might feel like it handles a little sharper. It's usually tough to run one set of tires the whole day. It's a compromise depending on how the track you're running on is on tire wear. For a longer main you'll need to start with bigger tires sometimes on a high wear track. If the track is low wear, you can run smaller tires. It's a matter of trial and error. You need to see what size gives you the best handling for your driving style. Remember, as your tires wear, all your settings need to be reset. After too much wear you'll obviously lose ride height. When you re-set the height, you'll have to adjust your camber and droop again. It's fun, as one adjustment usually means adjusting something else. I don't know if this makes sense to you, but I hope it helps shed some light on the issue. Good Luck

| Thanks Eric, it makes a lot of sense.
Usually at RPR I run my best when the tires are at 62R/60F and I understand now why my driving goes to the shutter after half the main... I guess is a matter to adapt to the way the car changes right?.
As far as the height, I usually adjust my car with a set of "SET UP ONLY" tires trued to a certain size, I might be running a bit higher at the start, but eventually I will reach the desired height for the main... Is this correct? or I should stop being stubborn and use two sets instead of one? (Please have in mind that at the speed I'm running the tires and the fuel last a bit longer).

| Hello guys glad to be back.. I had fun supporting my Royal Palm members at the state in naples. I was also able to talk to other racers and promote our track.
The Track...
The track is big! and fun with a very long straight. Yes the track has different surfaces and yes it has bumps as most tracks do. In general it was a very enjoyable track with different challanges.
Racing... My experience. On this trip I tried to just take it easy and enjoy the weekend. I wanted to help as much as possible and not wrench on my car too much. When getting my car ready for this trip I noticed my cars age and I knew it was time to get it replaced with a new one. This was going to be my cars last race. I had Issues with my car and radio all weekend. On saturday I didn't make 1 qualifier count. My clutch had issues and I also had minor glitches...as well. On sunday I drove slow with Major radio glithes and managed to get one qualifer count. This put me in the 3rd C main.. I was supprised because I drove very slow. In my main I was able to take the lead and was sure I was going to get to bump up to the B as long as I could hold a steady pace. I held possition for a while but radio issues did me in. My car lost control and that was that. I think I did well with all the handicaps I had to deal with and may have won that race. DJ may have a better idea as to the outcome since he was pitting for someone else. I could not hear the announcer that well but I knew i was on the lead. So now its time for a new car and a new radio as well. My radio has been with me for a while glue and all.. it served me well.
DJ and Joe ran a good race. Joe needs to practice engine tuning and DJ came in second in the A main. Scotty came in first 4 laps ahead of DJ. I happy our guys gave em the ole one two punch. We are well represented in the series I think. I know DJ was born and raised at Royal Palm. When I get my T shirts done I hope he'll wear it with pride and represent us here. After I finish the website The shirts will be printed. If DJ has any comments please feel free to post.. In general I had a good time and i'm red from the sun. Personally I missed our club house and all the amenities at our track. We really do have it good at Royal Palm. See you all next week for the final winter series race at Royal Palm Raceway.

Guys no kidding, GT is an awesome game (No, not a game... A driving simulator), addictive too, you have to obtain racing licences by taking timed tests, you are given a small amount of money to build a car and you have to work your way up by racing and winning money to bulid a better car... you can purchase basically any car available on the street, and learn to tune it and set it up since all parts and upgrades are available... There are several divisions, classes and championships, test tracks, shops etc... LIKE IN REAL LIFE
The 3D graphics are exceptional and you can even link with as many as 30 other drivers over the Net.

| Sorry I couldn't make it today. I'm recovering from too much festivities. Been partying since Wednesday. Car isn't back together since the last race. Good luck everyone. See you soon

| Maybe I shouldn't be the one to say this, but what a shame to see so few "Racers" at our club track.
The track was awesome (Clean and Grippy), the weather was great too... I had a blast and learned lots of good stuff... Finally Broke 20's
Thanks Andy and Ariel.

| Is "All good" Ariel... Sometimes the advise of Pro drivers is way far from your own reality (Since they drive a whole different pace, their technique and set ups may not be appropriate for slower drivers).... but as you said, by trial and error we should be there sometime (Hopefully sooner than later).
In a positive note, I was able to go from 37 something laps to 20's in just four races (No practice days or anything)... I finished my first Series ever within the top 10 in between the FAST AND THE FURIOUS (Hell, I Even won a race)... Bellieve me, is a big chunk for a novice and is A W E S O M E.

| The last race will be posted when database is updated. End of this week. last race is always tough since errors need to be fixed . In this last series we had racers with swapped transponders and such. yes racers were borrowing same transponder. now i need to get this fixed before posting actual results.
