| Hello all,
What are the novices running as far as kits in genereal. My son is just starting so I was planning to let him run an older HPI kit I have that is fairly modified. Me being a novice(to track) also may step up to something a more tune-able
Thanks, Greg

| Greg I started on this thing a few weeks ago with an HPI, I think is good enough to get a hold of driving around of the track to begin with, once you guys get faster you can upgrade to a better kit.
I guess your best bet will be Serpent for a new car, the reason being is that most club members are driving it (the 710), this way you get tons of feedback and all the parts are available at the track.
The Mugen is Awesome too (MTX 3 is it???) and there are also a few guys driving them at the track, so you have some info and suport there too.

| Thanks for the feedback I agree we can get in the groove with HPI's for now. Move up later as we progress

| Just be sure to get plenty of spare parts. If you break anything, there wont be many guys to borrow parts from. Good Luck

| With the HPI's you need to keep extra dogbones, Front uprights with flange pipes and 10mm cap head screws... that is pretty much what it breaks.
It will take you only a few practice sessions to be ready to move up to a better car.
In the other hand, I think everybody should start with the best car available (Or affordable) and get the real feel since the first time... I guess is a matter of asking yourself how far you want to go with this thing.
