Hello there,

I'm a novice with R/C Gas cars, I always had RC cars my entire life, but never took it seriously, I'm a private pilot, and aways loved to watch air models flying and cars running...

So I decided to buy a kit, and did something that wasn't that wise! I bought one of these cheap Ebay asian cars... which on the first week broke the differential bars! I'm willing to fix it, and start participating on practices and races with you guys!

I will try to stop by this saturday at the track and meet some of you guys, see how the thing works, get some tips, and hope to get my car ready and start the action!

Hope to see y'all soon!

Best regards,

Marcio Cavalcanti

Great to hear Mario, what kind of car is it? I know you may just be starting, but in 2 weeks there's a large race at the track, it should bring people in from all over the state. I know it may sound intimidating, but it's great. You'll wind up with people at your same driving ability. Even if you don't come race, come check it out to see what it's all about. Talk to Andy when you go to the track, he's the owner, he'll tell you all that you need to get started. Good luck

Hi Eric, I'd be more than happy to participate in such race, I'm very competitive, but I know my limitations, and would race just for the fun of it!

the car that I bought is a 1/10 Gas with a .15 engine! the brand is called ACME (not the road runner one eheheh) here is the link

What time do you guys start arriving at the track on saturday?

I will be there around 10/11am to take a look meet some of you guys and get familiarized with the system!

Regards,

Marcio Cavalcanti

Oops...sorry got your name wrong the first time. I never heard of that car, but it looks like a general RTR. It should be good enough to get you started. The track is usually ready to go by that time. THe only issue with that car is that you need to be carefull with parts. Not many stores around here will have parts for it. you will need to stock up on parts and have them ready for when you start racing. By looking at the picture it comes with Rubber tires, those wont work on the track, you need FOAM tires, but Andy always has plenty available. WEll there's lots of other things posted here that you can learn from . This forum is a bit of a mess, but look through the pages for anythign that saw Newbies/Novice/Beginners tips and you should find some interesting stuff there. good luck

Bring it on Marcio, Like me, there are many other novices getting involved in R/C Racing... All I can tell you is I've enjoyed a lot since I jumped into this.

I'm pretty sure you know what I'm talking about once you turn a few laps at the track.

If you need any help we are glad to be of assistance.

Track starts running about 10:00am on Saturdays (Some cleaning and spraying is required), the rest of the day is open practice and some "for fun" races and stuff.

Sunday you have early practice and qualifiers start about 12:00.

Again, welcome to R/C racing

Welcome Marcio... New drivers are always welcomed and encouraged. We are all here to help you get started and make the most out of this hobby. Bring what you have... I saw your car and for the money you cant beat it including radio. I can say that the more advanced cars might be easier to drive but are more involved. The good news is that you can start with what you have and learn from it before you move up. Our drivers race for different reasons. Some race and practice for fun (which is what this is all about) and some take the hobby a bit more serious and race nationally. In any case and for whaever reason we have all skill levels represented to help you get the most of what you desire.
Come on out this Saturday and talk with me. I will be glad to show you our track and facilities.

Andy

marcio,
nice to have you at the track. i have been racing now for about 10 months... i feel like a ol' timer now. anyhow, i will be more than happy to help with what i know. i heard of the acme car on rctech.net. in my opinion, i think it will be a tough car to start out with. the reason i say this is because parts are not available. when i first started, ask andy, i broke my car in the first 3 laps. and i fixed it and did the same again. so if i drove a car where i could not get parts, i would have been in big trouble. you can probably pick up a mtx-3 pretty cheap. they are comeing out with the mtx-4 soon so the mtx-3 will be selling cheap on ebay. also, it all depends on your budget. good luck, have fun, drive safe (i mean your real car).

I apreciate all of you, and I'm sure I will feel home when I get there (I'm already feeling part of the family)... unfortunately I won't be able to run this weekend, since my car needs some spare parts, but I'll be there anyways to meet you guys!

See y'all saturday, I'm an easy one to recognize 6'4" XL guy, and a 5"1' wife eheheh
