i think the pipe is very good. the jp fx was very popular here in south florida. but then a lot of people had problems with it. i had the epoxy come out of the crank. and there were 5 or so engines in broward with the same problem. DJ got one and it was slow. he worked on it with art and could not get it to run. Danny H got one and the same thing. i shipped mine back and got it fixed.. i had to pay $125 for handling, so it was not exactly a free fix. the two that i have had, had decent power. nothing exciting. i also have the x12 jp modified engines. they have much more power. very fast. i have one for sale as well. the pipe is a very nice pipe.

I had the stock version of the FX12 (You can see the details on jpracing.com) engine and had the silicone/epoxy come out of the crank as well. I'm not afraid of messing with engines so i replaced it myself. That engine was great on power for me and never left me disappointed. The pipe is excellent and as long as it isn't banged up can be used on many other engines with great success. Again, just make sure the engine has good compression, that it's been taken care of and that you know the person who's run it. Don't be afraid to ask to see the engine running. How much are they asking for the Engine and Pipe. And by the way, you'll get the best value with that ZX12 Powerpack. The new ones that are coming have a new conrod that will fix the snapping issue. for $265 for engin/pipe you can't beat it. And the performance is excellent. Almost that of a modified motor.

I have most of these engines that are being talked about and joe is coorect about what he said. I was very dissappointed with the fx version of the JP. The mugen x12 is very good. the new megas should be in any time now and they have changed the rod. hopefully it works. I will say that I have run an out of box mega at almost every race. all local races and all state races including the winternats and region 4. these megas are great on power. just as fast as any modified engine I ever ran. just my opinion. I will be out at the track early this sat for any one who needs help. before the enduro I will also be going out to as many of the series races more so to help people. see you then.

Thanks Everyone. The price is about 275 for the engine and the pripe. I saw some prices over the internet and just the engine is about 405.00.

Those power/HP numbers aren't usually accurate. The reason is because there's no "standard" for measuring HP on these engines. So a different pipe/fuel/plug temp etc will produce different #'s
Serpent has done well by not posting them. RC Extreme Magazine has actually made a Dyno that they're testing engines on. It's good because it's actually a standard to use as comparison. They've Tested Several HIGH end engines like the RB Concepts V12 Rody Modified and the X12 Max Modified, both of which are some of the most powerful engines on the market and they were able to pull "only" .91 HP on the Dyno test. SO those "Claimed 1.8 hp" you see on advertising is usually WAY off. the ZX12 race is probably one of the fastest motors on the Market. It managed to pull a 1 & 2 place finish in this years' Winternats, one of the biggest races in the Country. I think everyone will agree that there was only one engine that was faster (Swauger's JP FX12, but his engines are always crazy fast) But the Mega will easily run with some more expensive motors. Do your research like you're doing, but you should see engines running under race conditions before making a decision. Good Luck.

Nothing against any of your comments erick.

I just feel these engines are WAY overpriced!
Even with the euro exchange rate. Paying $150.00 for just a piston and sleeve is crazy.I know how much the (special aluminum material) costs. Top drivers get these engines free or a very very steep discount.
Did I mention they are excellent drivers to begin with! 400.00 engines are out of the question under any circumstances.. why? because they cost more than the car! Ask any top driver and they will tell you Yes their engine is good but they wont say they are good because of their engine. In any case they use these engines at top level competiions to compete against other driver of their same level. Guess what. The drivers are ALL getting their engines free or very cheap because of their sponserships. If your on your own plan on spending 5-10k a season. The only exception to this rule that I have personally tested is the Powerpack combo from serpent. That engine has good value built in with the pipe. I still feel however that the pipe they offer is a little overpriced at close to 100.00 if purchased seperatley.

Augusto, why pay 270 bucks in an engine that is used, and you don't know the owner... do what I did... buy it from andy, it's a very good price, and comes with the pipe and a very nice case ;P - He helps us a lot, so let's help him too!!!
