| Well one really good deal right now is the Spektrum Radio. http://www.spektrumrc.com/DX3/Default.html It's got the new system built in so you'll never have to worry about frequency conflicts again. It's about $250ish I think. It comes with one standard and one high torque servo
If you want to go a little less you can get like a Futaba 3PM-FM for like $120 and then 2 nice Futaba S3010 Servos (which have nice torque) for like $50
There's many options, I still use my Airtronics MX-3 that I got for $120 with 2 servos. Both of the servos were really crappy and I broke one om my first day out. So they've been upgraded since. BUt the radio is fine.
If you don't like those options I gave, here's what you want to look for in a radio. You want to get a radio that's on the FM 75mhz band. That will give you the most frequency options. The radio should have some kind of End Point Adjustment (Travel Limit) and it should have a 3 channel receiver. If you go with the Spektrum system, you won't have to worry about frequencies because the radio "pairs" to the reciever. (Think Bluetooth) Servos should be better than the cheapest ones. Antying above those are usually OK. Hitec makes some nice ones that aren't too expensive, but they don't last long. In a Servo you want either high torque or high speed or both, but those are usually expensive. Hope this helps. Keep saving money. :)

| I bought the Spektrum radio at Horizon hobbies online for $258 incl s&h. It brings a micro 3 channel receiver, two servos 1 is high torque, and is super easy to set-up

| Well there are some that can cost over $100 each. But something like those 3010 should be reliable.

| Also,
On the futaba servo site, next to the pic of eah servo itt says the servos torque and speed, at 4.8V and 6.0V.
Why does it have both of those volts???

| Because some setups, like some electric cars use 4 cell battery packs which only gives you 4.8 volts, which will make the pack slower. In your case I think you have a 4 cell pack. If you use rechargables you will have 4.8, if you use Alkaline non-rechargables you will have 6.0 because those have 1.5 volts per battery as opposed to 1.2 for Nimh rechargeables.

| well...you get 6.0 volts for about a minute with alkaline if ever. They are rated at 6.0 volts but they quickly loose that peak and drain constantly until dead. NiMH will retain their voltage until the charge is gone. Another reason to constantly charge your pack during a long race day because the racing gods dictate that a battery pack will only fail half-way through the longest straightaway.

| yeah but but if you run more than 6-volts you'll cook the receiver. PLUS Lipo packs cannot take the heat. they will explode in your car most likely. Too much of a headache to deal with.

| If anyone is intersted, I can get either JR XS3 synthesized radio plus 2 servos or Airtronics MX3 synthesized radio plus 1 servo for just over cost. Also other stuff like servos and receivers
