| Royal Palm Raceway's facilities are closed for relocation.
Gentlemen for 2 years there was no track in Miami. I tried to establish a track with all the conveniences that we never had and with room for growth. I stepped forward to do what no one else wanted or was willing to do. I did this for the love of this sport and for the people who wanted a place to run. I was able to create what I thought was the beginning of a very nice place to run. With a lot of work, effort, and money I was able to piece together a track with facilities we never had before.
Unfortunately I had not the first, but definitely the last fallout with management at the track this past weekend. There have been many instances that management's activities have disrupted our peaceful use of the facility I lease. I have always been professionally courteous discussing issues caused by management with their events held at the facility. These issues included; extremely LOUD Music at the track, broken glass and rocks on the track, vandalism caused by their patrons use of area. There has even been cases when I have found vomit on the track the following day from one of their events. I have always been able to deal with these never-ending issues with management in a peaceful manner. Keep in mind that all these problems were caused by the same people I pay a lease to and not by us. I however refuse to deal with attitudes and threats. I consider myself a patient person but I have to draw the line. This 4th of July once again they held yet another giant party at the facility. They completely vandalized our track with broken bottles, rocks, broken berms, fireworks, you name it. It also seemed that they used our drivers stand as some sort of launching area for the fireworks as well. As you all may know it takes a lot of work to maintain a track in good shape. I also keep valuable equipment there as well, which I removed for security reasons. No one is supposed to be on the track while we are not there for any reason. I cannot continue to deal with people (the landlord) who don't protect the track area I lease, and don't even use common sense when it comes to protecting what others are paying for. Not to mention holding events that completely interrupts our use of the facilities. This was the last straw!
What's the Solution?
We are over 400 members strong and I'm working with others to resolve this as quickly as possible. I am trying to locate a temporary or permanent alternative as fast as possible so we can still run. We will not however meet at our previous location any more. I have several locations already in mind and am gathering the details to see if these locations are feasible. I will post the possible new location information as soon as I can.
I am interested in forming a track committee of those members who are interested to participate and carry some responsibilities along with myself. Some members want more participation and others don't want any responsibilities at all. The track however will run as normal in any case.
None of this affects www.shopserpent.com or our intentions of running 1/18 scale cars which we will begin in the next coming weeks.
I know this is sudden news, but the club could not continue under these circumstances. Please have confidence that I am trying hard to find a solution that will be best for everyone.
Thanks,
Andy Martinez

Personally I would rather the track at a closer location to my house...like tropical...They have room all over the place to put a permanent RC track...I still go run my car where the old track was

| i know andy wants to have another track, and it will be just a matter of time before we get going again. so do not sell your stuff!!! plus, like you said, a better location would be preferable. when they were running at tropical park they had a ton of drivers. hopefully we can get this as well.

| Amelia has the R/C boats already so maybe it's not a bad idea. Vandalism won't be a problem, once they see how fast our toys are they'll respect us and want to join us, not fight us. (R/C = Peace on earth) At Amelia we will aslo have a large selection of music playing for free...cumbia, salsa, merengue...

In the meantime, are the races off for this sunday? If they are where do we plan on racing the 1/18?

| In response to Joe's comment, from what I understand, it wasn't the lack of participation, but the after hours activities that was happening at the track. Andy, as the owner if the track, voiced his concerns and what could be done about it, but nothing was resolved so, the track is moving to a different location.
I personally loved the track. The location was great, the new friends I've made are great and I'm sure that we'll be up and racing in no time.
The Dolphin Mall micro racing activities in the mean time will be a lot of fun, whether your racing or just coming out to support the hobby and will be GREAT exposure for Royal Palm Raceway.

A good idea for a permanent track could be the hialeah racetrack (the one on palm ave and 26 st on the east), it has a huge parking lot and nobody use that space, also you colud try on the jaialai, i've heard that years ago the people of orange blossom made races in there.

| It will be inside Dave & Busters inside one of the private rooms. Since we've never run this before it's pretty much open class. bring what you want. The only thing we'd like to keep similar is batteries. Either 6-cell Nimh or 2 cell Lipo. The thinking is so we can at least keep the voltage the same. (7.2 nimh vs 7.4 lipo) it looks like Foam tires are the way to go. This is going to be for fun anyways. But we will have the transponder system set up, so bring your personal transponder. Other than that, we're kinda winging it so we'll see what happens. We figure we'll start setting up the track like at 8 and stay until 12ish. Andy will post more details when it's settled.

| This is definately the worse news I have heard this weekend. I just bought a new 710 kit and I was planning on tuning the chassis and engine next weekend. Those plans are obviously out the window. Is there a nitro track that runs during summer anywhere within two-three hours drive from Miami?
I trust Andy did the right thing. I can attest to how frustrating it is for the drivers when a track can't be managed properly. I never heard anything like this though...
Keep us up to date Andy.

| Be Patient Guys, please have in mind that is kind of hard to find a place where the conditions to set up a track are just right, we have to look for a place that will make everyone happy (Location wise), and it needs to have apropriate surface (So then people wont start complaining about the bumps and the grip etc etc).
Kind of ironic the sudden rush to have a place to race when we had to go the extra mile to get a few people to go there on race days...
I think is a good time to bring up the old quote: "You Dont Know What You Have Until You Dont Have It Any More".

| yeah it's going to take time. He's got many options. find a location that will allow a temporary track to be setup and torn down on race weekends like Tropical park, or preferably find a private owned land that has the concrete already down and would allow a permanent track to be setup. Then there's the rent costs, the track layout costs are pretty much fixed wherever it's set up, but the other stuff like rent, driver's stand etc also need to be considered. So it's going to take some time. Fast & Furious RC is the only option at the moment. here's the site http://www.fastnfuriousrc.com/

| Info new track goal Criteria for new track.... here are a few things we mst have at any new track location.
1. Must be BETTER than before. The track surface is #1 priority. we need an asphault as smooth as possible and a long straight for 1/8th scale. We need to improve on what we had and make this one even better.
2. Location,Location,Location High exposure areas are a hugh benfit since it brings in more racers and spectators.
3. lets shoot for a permanent track this would be ideal. I have ideas on this even if track has black out dates.
The idea is to drastically improve surface and layout. I already have a scale layout designed by (the master) Art Carbonel we can use.
We can get this done fairly quickly once a location is decided on.
I also need help guys.. this is not a one man show.
I will post more later but at least you get an idea as to what i'm trying to get us within a reasonable expense budget.

| Trust me, all that has been considered. but there's NEVER been a permanent track in Miami other than RPR. All the other parking lots where there were races that I know of have been filled with buildings. The only spot left is Tropical Park, and it would require some serious money to get in there to put a permanent track IF they were to allow it. I know Andy's looking for the best location possible. He's got some discussions going that hopefully will lead to something soon.
