Is wearing them going a little too far for beer league softball. Or is just enough. Sub question: Would it be more or less ridiculous to wear the socks that have the stirrup painted on and not wear an actual stirrup? Debate.

Is stirrup even the technical name for them? I know that's what we called them back in the travel days.

Stirrups are the correct name. Personally, I like the traditional look it provides. And stirrups are starting to make a comeback in the majors: Nyjer Morgan, A's rookie starter Josh Outman, and others. I prefer the real thing over the faux stirrup stripes painted on the sock, my brother seems to like that look.

Whether or not they're too much for beer league softball? That's a judgment call. Everyone knows I don't know much about fashion on the softball field. For God's sake, I wore Jennie Finch kneepads for the better part of two seasons! But I also wear them for coaching baseball, so I'm kind of set in my ways. I know people probably make fun of me for them, but you guys give me enough shit about everything else anyways, so I'm used to it.

You don't have to defend yourself to me! I wear Sambas. But I look really good in them.
