While it wasn't raining, the fields were too wet for the park district to get on them and work them. I was asked why we didn't play last Thursday, and that's why. This time of year, if it rains one day and stops, that doesn't mean that the fields will be ready the next day. There's not enough heat to dry out the fields.

ALSO, if people have any REAL ideas for the fall league, speak up now. Our team, World of Fitness, has had 2 rainouts and will probably have one tomorrow night. That means that we played 4 out of the 7 nights.

The park district is supposed to lock up the park on November 1st, but I asked them if they would hold off and they're going to hold off until November 12th. But if this week gets rained out, I don't see how we can get makeups done. But I'll talk with Lester and see what he wants to do. We will probably give money back as that's all we can really do. But we still have a couple weeks left, so I'm sure Lester will do what he can.

Just a heads up though to not get overly disappointed if the rest of fall gets cancelled.

Fall league needs to start earlier if we cant play into november. There was no rain during the month of August. A full month off between summer and fall league I think is too long.
Otherwise make up games for rain outs need to be anticipated and scheduled before the last week of the season. Designating one field one night a week during the season may keep from having to play all the makeup rain outs during the last week of the season, which is most likely to be the wettest week of the season.

Good points gary. That's something Lester and I talked about this morning for next year. Thing is that you have to cut the summer league to maybe 18 games instead of 24 games. So it's a double edged sword.

I'm talking about Men's League here. Co-Ed finished at the beginning of August. Men's finished the 3rd week of august.

A lot of that has to do with the # of teams in a division. For instance, the Men's A League had 5 teams, so each week there is going to be 1 team who has a bye, so that makes the mens A League last longer in the year. And all nights are already taken in the summer, so that's all you can do. But we did talk about shortening the summer to maybe 18 games and then starting the fall league 3-4 weeks earlier.
