So here it is again almost july, a couple of weeks away from the all star game. Its the middle of the season and its time for the teams who are playoff contenders to start there push for postseason play. Heres my list of teams that seem like there here to stay and october play.

A.L. East- The Rays, who knew if your dropped the devil u contend for first? do they have staying power or will Boston run with it? My nod goes to Boston, Manny and big Papi will get healthy and swinging and win the divison by 4 games. I have the Yankees finishing 2nd to last.

A.L. Central
Is there any real team that just shines in this divison, the white sox cant win right now, and are struggling to put anything postive. The offense has been streaky all year, but as it is no one in that divison looks better, minnestoa could make a run at it, but as it is Chi-town could be well represented this oct.

A.L. West
Hello? Does anyone else play in that divison but the Angles? Look for the Seattle Mariners to be mathmaticly elimanted by next week.

A.L. Wild Card
Has to go to The Rays, wow Evan Longoria isnt the only thing that came out of no where, who can honestly say they saw this coming no one in the A.L. is more fun to watch right now.

N.L. East
Them fighting Philies, 1 thru 9 this team is stacked. Good pitching, good defense, timely hitting this team has what it takes to get deep into October, Also look for Ryan Howard to beat his own strike out record this year.

N.L. Central
As a Cardinals fan this is hard for me, honestly im not even sure, the cubs seem unbeatable and are proving to be so at home. However, they are the Cubs and once the wheels fall off there about as useful as a Ford Geo. Still, one has to give them credit they are baseballs best team. As of today there my pick, but time will only tell.

N.L. West
Whats with the west this year? Is is too hot for baseball or something? This should have been baseballs best divison, The D Backs are stacked in pitching and young talent but this team is finding ways to flirt with .500. Still, the only team close to that golden .500 mark is the Dodgers and there still 3 games back. D Backs are stealing a divison this year.

N.L. Wild Card
Tony Larussa has the off the radar cardinals, on the map and circled as a point of intrest. If the pitching and offense can hold, They should be in How sweet of a series would it be for a Cards Cubs NLCS? thats tv!!

This is just my O, debate if you want, obviously i had a lot of time on my hands.

If I was a Cardinal fan and put something up about the Cubs....don't think I would post my name either. What a fantasy world you guys live in. One bad elbow away from the cellar and still thinking Tony is going to put on a red cape and boots and fly in, save the central from the bad guys....Well, say good night to the bad guy St. Louis, this party is over....

yeah cubs fans... let's just hope that a greedy little fan doesn't get any ideas and ruin it for the cubs again... i'd rather not add another excuse to the list of reasons why the cubs blow it every year! we just need to shorten the season by about a month... i always thought there were too many games in a season anyway! they might have a chance then... but until that happens, let's leave the winning up to a team that has won a series since:

-World War I
-the Titanic
-the Prohibiton
-Women's Suffrage
-J. Edgar Hoover
-the Great Depression
-the Hindenburg
-World War II
-Adolf Hitler
-Pearl Harbor
-Color TV
-the Polio Vaccine
-Rosa Parks
-Sputnik
-JFK
-Berlin Wall
-Vietnam War
-Watergate
-Star Wars
-AIDS
-the Internet
-Operation Desert Storm
-O.J. Simpson
and finally
-Y2K

just to name a few :) have a great day guys! ~cory~

Heard what? That Cardinal fans live in the same world with Snow White, the Seven Dwarfs, Cinderella, Santa Claus and Flavor Flav? All Imagination Land? Grantid you have an ESPN movie of the week in center field, I'll give you that. But you are burning out an injured 1st baseman, hitting your pitcher 8th so he gets one more at bat per game, and your bull-pen is now your starting rotation. Pujols must go to the Chiropractor 6 days a week, his back must be killing him by now. (How did your I-70 match-up go this past week by the way?) Just like the spoiled child to his parents and brain washed by Cardinals announcers, they do no wrong ever....always someone else's fault. Pitching bad, ump's fault. Fielding bad, field's fault. Miss a fly ball, God's fault. And thinking this is another 82 win miracle season....your fault. Us Cub fans are not dissapointed, you have to feel a high to know what dissapointment is. Hopefull yes, excited yes, but we know that if it doesn't get done this year...there's always next year.

We bat the pitcher 8 because its like haveing two lead off hitters 9 and 1. Actually more and more teams are starting to do this as well. Its not just master mind Larussa.

Lets face facts, the cardinals shouldnt even be good, they should be at best around .500 but this team has had big contributions from guys the baseball worlds never heard of. Ludwick, Ryan, Barton, and of course the remarkable story of Rick Ankiel. Those are just postion players Kyle Loshe is another suprise, lopper is pitching well enough and so are our other starters. Our bullpen at one time was the best in the bigs so im not quite sure where your getting your information Fish1, these cardinals are a team the cubs will haft to deal with, we've already taken 2 out of 3 from you this year.

You mean Soriano gave you two out of three already this year. I am not debating that the Cardinals are not playing WAY beyond their means. I respect that as a baseball fan. The Cardinals are ALWAYS going to be a team that the Cubs are going to have to deal with that is a fact. Let's not get into season series though over the past few years, and mind you the season is still young. I loved your post Kevin, I thought it was awsome but then someone came along and started a C.U.B.S joke and I had to step up and represent my team. But, you know as well as I do, it is a fun rivalry and I do have fun. This is all in good fun and is not meant to be nasty towards anyone. See, that's the way us Cub fans are. We aren't going to roll over belly up and show all four paws. Hey, at least it's not Dodgers/Giants where people get stabbed in the parking lot of the stadium. I respect LaRussa and I think Ankiel is a fantastic story. I loved Rolen and Eckstien because they are old school. We Cub fans can admit that. PS-what do you guys think about our new center fielder? Kid can play a bit huh??? HAHAHAHA!

Hahaha, yeah fish I know its in fun, this exactly what I had hoped for when I wrote it that people would talk about it as long as it can stay friendly which is should and hopefully it does. No disrespect to you or defending your team, thats what fans do.

The Cubs have an amazing line up this year there the most talented team in the N.L. hands down maybe all of baseball. The Jim Edmonds Rivial, is another good story for baseball. I loved him as a cardinal and respect him as a cub. He was hitting like a buck seventy for the Padres and scouts were saying Jimmy's done. Then he gets traded and that sweet swing came back im happy that hes still able to play.

The post didnt take that long actually it was fun to write and i was bored i think i knocked it out in like 15 minutes. =P

Anyways big series coming between cards and cubs, should be fun can wait to see what happens!!

Thing is, Jimmy wasnt hitting like that for the padres. Jim Edmonds Scott Rolen and David eckstein were collectively averageing about .260 batting and between the 3 of them after the first month and a half of big league play barley had over 10 rbis.

You know its bad when you get cut by the padres, an offense that i feel comfortbale pitching to. and i bring it like our southern illinois miners, slow and crappy. Listen I myself Kevin D Niemeyer am a cardinals fan, however i find it as a fan of the game extremly diffuclut to go agasint what the Cubs are doing this year.

Granted there really isnt more than one team that is just wow amazing right now. If someone has to put a finger on a team you just dont want to see right now it has to be the Cubs, or The Rays.

So before cardinal fans get on here and talk about how much the cubs suck, truth is there in 1st and are baseballs best. I dont like anymore then anyone else in cardinals nation but those are facts.

Hey Kevin, I am going to jump in on this one and chenge the pace...all I ever see on this message board is cubs and cardinal fans arguing about which team hates eachother more so lets jump to another division...

As you know, I am/have been a lifelong white sox fan and finally got my due in 2005 when we became the first Chicago team to win a world series in 88 years...(We were also the last ones to do it then)...But my point....The White sox are looing good again, although they are playing a bit streaky this year. They either score ten-twelve runs or 1 or 2. In any case, they are a bunch of scrappers and as long as they can stay healty, should be able to fight off the Twins(even though they are tearing it up right now on a 9 game win streak), or at least take the wild card after the Red Sox force the Rays into submission...In any case, I believe you are right, the smell of a cross town series is as good as it seems it has been since 1906 for the CHI!

Sam,
Anything can happen in october we saw that last year with the colorado rockies winning their last 23 games, and beating the Padres in the playoff game, then advancing to the world series.
Im not totally agaisnt the white sox, as i said they were my pick to win the A.L. Central, That said the A.L. Central is a lot like the N.L. Central of last year, its weak there is as of right now only two teams above .500 Twins, Sox both teams have a pretty good record. It just doesnt seem likely that the wildcard will come out of the central this year unless the wheels fall off for the rays or boston in the east. The Twins are Surgging right now 9-1 in there last 10 games. There playing good ball, the Sox are .500 in there last 10 i think its safe to say between these two teams it could very well come down to the end of the season. That said I still feel that the Sox are gonna haft to win that divison to be in the post season as the wild card team will be from the east.

The only argument that can really be said agaisnt the Cubs and The Rays is both clubs are bad on the road, well below .500 while traveling. It seems this could present a problem for both squads if they get in a best of 7 match up.

Josh and Jimmy, thank you very much for proving my earlier point, I appreciate it. Well thought of comeback there, hope you didn't hurt yourself thinking that one up Josh. Jimmy, the wind blows all sorts of different directions. Wrigley Field is not this magical place where the wind blows out towards the majic ivy, and the little baseball knomes help carry every lazy fly ball to far, far away land. Grantid, I have seen days where the ball has no business going out of the park, but I have also seen days when the wind is blowing in so hard in, that not even Mark McGuire on his best vitamins could hit one out from second base.

Wow, what a difference a week makes, my picks remain but im starting to second guess.

The philies are playing bad while the fish are playing great, the cubs are doing the same while slowly out of no where the brewers are playing well and the cardinals too. The Angles pitched a unoffical no hitter two nights ago and still lost. Leaving the door open for oakland Texas is playing a little over good enough.

Im starting to truely belivie my picks were premature and are subject to change in the 2nd half. How bout them Rays tonight as well holding off Boston, this team i would love to see them win the world series cinderella! cinderella!

Good news for cardinal fans Pujols is back, Mulder made a apperance from the pen to close out the game. Chris Duncan hit a homerun tonight to really take the game away from the Mets. This team is starting to get healthy, when were healthy were dangerous.

We still have to hold off those pesky Twins but what an amazing story...White Sox/Cubs are 3-3 with eacheother...both sweeps...all home wins...30-30 since interleague play began...The ALL STAR game will turn out to be the most important game of the year IF these two teams could manage to finish what they have started!!!...and Yes...a Chicago fan can dream!!!

Im not sold on a cross town world series, for one the cubs are good at home, on the road they struggle the only reason why the Cardinals are only 2.5 games back is of that fact. If the cubs dont figure that out then two long road trips could bury them.

The White sox, there playing good right now, I still like them to win the divison but in all honesty i can think of 3 teams that are better who will most likey be joining them in the A.L. playoffs.

The seasons still young but Sam please dont hold your breath on this one.

ok i got a lot to say on this subject....

Fish1-you seem rather smart for a cubs fan, but one thing that bothered me was your comment about the bullpen being the starting rotation. Regardless of who is in that starting rotation, they are ranked 1st in the National League in wins and ERA. COnsider that Carpenter hasnt pitched at all this year, and Wainwright has been out for the past 4 or 5 starts he should have had, thats a pretty damn good starting rotation. You cant honestly tell me if you took Dempster out for a Month and Zambrano out for the whole season so far that you think the Cubs would be where they are. The question for the Cards is in the bullpen, nto the starting rotation.
Another thing, batting the pitcher 8th is not used only by LaRussa, the Brewers usually employ the same tactic. It's actully a really good idea. With a better hitter in front of the pitcher(a number 7 hitter is usually better than a number 8 hitter) it helps in those situations with 2 outs and the number 7 guy in the line up coming up. Statistically hes going to get on base more thatn your average number 8 hitter in a line up. That lets the pitcher have the chance to help himself, or make the last out of an inning, which is much better than making the first out of an inning. Not to mention, the Cards have some pitchers that can hit as well...

I do beleive the Cubs have a shot at the World Series. The Cards, D-Backs and Marlins are my picks to round out the NL Playoffs. The D-Backs will be tough to beat in a 3 game series with Webb And Haren going back to back possibly twice if it goes 5 games. The Marlins (or Phils whoever comes out of the east) would be an easier matchup for the Cubs in my opinion. I honestly think the Cards can give the Cubs a run, not only for the division, but also if they happen to meet in the playoffs.

As for the AL, SOrry sam, but I dont think the White Sox can hang with the Rays, The Angels, or the Red Sox for that matter. I expect the Angels to be in it from the AL, I think the Rays and Red Sox will tire each other out running for the AL East, while the Angels will be able to put it on cruise control after a few more months.

All in all I love this Thread. No one on here bitching about last nights stats or anyhting, actully talking ball!!! Its great!

Tyson - batting the pitcher 8 also allows LaRussa to bat Pujols 3rd (getting him more at-bats and garuanteeing a fist inning appearance) and still have him as a cleanup hitter for the rest of the game - which is pretty smart...if you don't have a pujols type hitter than it might not be such a good idea

TysonThank you for the comment, it's appreciated. I respect people like you because you are a smart baseball fan. The things that you said were insightful and backed up with statistics, not just something out of a mouth that is an inch away from being plagued with Terrets Syndrome. I said those things not because I didn't understand them or because they are stupid, but I tried to draw out better explinations from Cardinal fans than..."Cubs suck, Cards rule!' or "I'm a Cardinal fan so I hate everything else in the world!" I understand the 8th in the batting order, I take my hat off to the pitching staff, and I respect LaRussa's coaching ability even though I can't stand him being a Cub fan. (He does run the A.R.F foundation and for that I like the guy off of the field.) But I said those things to put a negative on what they were doing just being a Cub fan, I'm not gonna lie. That's the only reason I said it was to back my team. You know what? You're pretty smart for a Cardinal fan too. And no, we wouldn't be where we are with out Dempster or Zombrano. We might however be 30 games over if there was a DH in the NL and that guy would be Soriano! Man, I thought the hop at Wrigley left with Sammy, didn't know it was gonna stay in left everytime there is a fly ball to left. Good luck to you and thank you for being a bit more intellectual than...."Cubs suck and I left school in the 3rd grade!"

Im not sitting here trying to brag on the cardinals cause please belivie me when i say i expected them to be competeing for last this year. When the season started i thought the cubs would run off 100 wins easy. they should still get 90's or damn near close. What these cardinals are doing the way larussa has these guys ready to play. How you never see a player not hustle down the line or to a ball is amazing. This team should be nothing but yet has the 2nd best record in the N.L. and the 4 best in all of the bigs. However you want to view this the national leagues best divison: ( ill say that again BEST divison.) Just got a lot tougher. The brewers landed cy young winner C.C. Sabathia for the remainder of the season while the cubs as if they needed more talent just got Rich Harden from the A's for Matt Murton and Eric Patterson and a minor league player. Those are some pretty big names coming to the central divison, finally both teams have enough starting pitching to make some noise in the playoffs..we'll ill retract that a little bit, the beer makers havent been in senice l ike 1988, but maybe they can make the post season this year thats some pretty big thunder before the allstar break.

Either way as a fan of the game i can finally say again its so nice to finally have a season without Barry Bonds and Roger Clemens names everywhere, this is the first baseball season in so long that doesnt feel like theres a cloud of suspcion over it for illegal drugs. Baseballs fun again, theres so many good storys weither it be Josh Hamilton in Texas, or the feel good Rays. Baseball is just fun again. Theres so much postivie and besides players beating up on coaches and ticket managers theres really nothing bad so far about the 2008 season.

Let's see....4.5 game lead in the central is fun, 3 pitchers all with 10 wins before the break is fun, 8 players in the All-Star game is fun (including gold glove nominee Soriano who is on the DL), and Harden in blue is fun too! Honorable mention in the fun catagory would be league leading ERA, wins, and 2 rookies starting in the All-Star Game. (Knock on wood...Walton and Smith '89...you Cub fans know what I am talking about!) Let's just hope the 2nd half is as "fun" as the 1st! WIN ON THE ROAD DAMMIT! As always Kevin, nice post. (PSGo away Brewers! Like a boss looking over my shoulder as I type, or me trying to stretch out a 3 bagger.....you're making me nervous!!!)

(Side note....and it pains me to say this, you Cardinal fans should have a 10 game winner in the All Star Game too. I don't know what happened there??)

Wow, its just the market st.louis is in, we dont get enough national coverage people dont know anything about us sept for pujols and ankiel.
heres my gripe the all star game this year is pretty much boston vs chicago, im not gripping because im a cards fan it just seems like theres prolly players who deserve to go who cant becasue one team is so well represented, But hey thats what a big budget will do for a team so its all gravy. It would just be nice to have more of a mixture.

Been happening on the North side for yrs. and yrs. I feel your pain bro I do. St. Louis though is one of the 4 biggest franchises in baseball, I really don't think that's it. I really think that it's because the Cards are playing so above their means that besides Pujols and Ankiel, these guys aren't major news stories and their names aren't out there that much. Ludwig got his props though!

hey fish, aint no Cards fans hidin here. i will say this now. it's pretty clear that the ScRubs are the best team in the NL. and if harden stays healthy, who knows, they might actually win a playoff game. BUT I DOUBT IT. chicago should have learned there lesson on suspect pitchers with tons of talent with prior and wood. but you all are like the french. you NEVER LEARN. and will continue to make the same stupid mistakes. if there's anything that ScRubs fans should know is that they should NEVER get their hopes up about your lovable LOSERS! and that's just what ScRubs fans are...LOSERS! it is pathetic that all you see running around are idiot chicago fans wearing there ugly ScRub gear. comin outta the closet. and where where all of you thoughout a CENTURY OR FUTILITY? in a corner with a thumb up your ass and a pacifier in your mouth, QUIET! just how it should be. i love it! it was so great to be in wrigleyville last season when you all were SWEPT by arizona. crybabies. and wearin my PUJOLs jersey to boot. PRICELESS. the ScRubs are TRYIN to be the yankees/red sox of the NL. tryin to buy a World Series title. Too bad for ya'll your still the ScRubs and somehow, someway they will find a way to F*ck it up. blame bartman, a goat, MS Olsen's cow, whatever. it doesn't matter. they will not win a WS in any of our lifetimes. chicago has a team. the WHITE SOX! you will DIE NEVER KNOWING WHAT IT FEELS LIKE TO BE A WINNER! so my advice to you is either jump off the wagon now and save face or start workin on some NEW EXCUSES for LOSING. cuz we've heard all the old ones. again and again. 105 wins in the regular season doesn't mean sh*t come the post season. ask mariners fans if you need some confirmation. just like 83 wins doesn't matter if it gets you in. ask StL fans about that one. there is 1/2 a season to go and who'da thunk it? the "rebuilding Redbirds" are hanging onto the mighty ScRubs coattails. chicago has a big name at every position but the Cardinals are just a buncha no-names winnig games. it's called chemistry. you can't buy it. unlike your roster, it's not for sale. you better hope milwaukee gets hot and wins the WC cuz you will get just what you've been hopin for when you gotta come to ST LOUIS in october. A SOLID AZZ WHIPPIN. DROWNIN IN A SEA OF RED. finally, go NL in the all-star game cuz we here in StL would love to host a game 7 in the WS. here's to the NEXT 100 YEARS OF LOSING!
peace, StL4Lyf

Oh my God!! Thank you dude...that was priceless!!! I needed that today, it's been a long day at the office and until I can get out on the field tonight you are the only form of entertainment I have had. This proves a few things to me....#1 Stay in school kids. #2 Meth is one powerful drug. #3 There is a reason there are warnings on things containing lead paint...DON'T EAT IT MAN!!! I DON'T CARE HOW GOOD IT TASTES SPRINKLED ON YOUR CEREAL! See, every time some people get on here and post and it becomes a good coversation that goes back and forth between intelligent people that support their teams but love and respect the game of baseball, it takes some monkey like you to crap in your hand and fling it up against the window. Refferring to my post earlier you will see that you fit the catagory of "the Cardinal fan that is always right and everything else that isn't affiliated with the Cardinals sucks and I hate the world." Well I respect the fact that you love the Redbirds but, your face should be just as red dude cause you just embarrassed the hell outta yourself with that post. Hey Kevin, let's start posting with really super cool names like...um..."someone else's team sux and this post will be so cool that I can't use my name"... agreed? Dude, my name is Jason Fisher....most people know that. I post as Fish, been my nickname for years most people that are on here know that and know me. You need to get new friends if they continue to give you nicknames with equal signs in them. God forbid everytime we try to show that we Southern Illinoisians are not some ignorant, short bus riding, it's cool to rip on people cause they don't believe what I do....you go and do something like this...and don't totally redeem yourself this time Harry. Sorry Kevin, Corey, Tyson, all of you that have had fun posting to this topic all month, someone I guess always has to put a streak right in the middle of the clean underwear!?!?!?! hahahahahahaha,
wow, im not cool with the name calling from the other people like i really dont want this thread to get pulled from the site cause its been a fun thread. So lets be mature about what was just said from cubs_suck3.

I will say this to cubs_suck3, you have passion for the cardinals thats so undeniable and i love it.However it seriously felt like you were writing on roid rage, you seriously Teed off on the subject, haha it was funny but it was maybe to aggressive. You made some soild points some of it was a little harsh.

So before this turns into nothing more than a 5th grade squable lets stop the name calling cause nothing good will come from it in fact Dan might take it off the site. ( really wanna make that clear.)

Listen lets face facts, the cubs are gold in the national league right now, Right Now is the key word. For cardinal fans or any fans at all to sit here and talk about this team in any negative lite only does injustice to yourself. We can sit here and remember how the cubs have lost there world series dreams in the past, but thats just it, its the past. what happen in 2003 doesnt reflect in any way of this team in 2008 last years 1st round sweep (which i totally called by the way.) has been forgotten about. whats replaced it? Try the being the best team in the N.L. try going in to the all star break with a 4.5 game lead in a tough divison. The fact is fans of the game this team is legit. Its really not an issue of chemistry with this club when they play they have it you can tell by watching them. Theres a lot of "magic" in cubbie blue this season, and maybe just maybe the century mark is where the curse ends. Hold on!! It is a long season, theres still around 80 games left. Rich Harden is a good pick up if he can stay healthy, this team has to stay healthy in the 2nd half and start winning more on the road.If that happens one has to think there chances are more favorable then anyone elses in the N.L.

I dont even want to speak of this anymore. The cubs have 4.5 games on the Cards, untill that number is zero, im not gonna parade around talking about how bad the cubs suck, cause well as much as i hate to say it, they dont suck. They are a really good team. Dont get me wrong, I want them to lose every game here on out..but they are just a good team.

The Brewers are good to, but they dont have anyone to close out a game.
The Cards bullpen blows, and they need another bat in the lineup that can get on base in front of Albert.
So that leaves the Cubs in the Central division, I think barring major injuries or a collapse only the cubbies are capable of making, they should win the division.

World Series winners, im not ready to go that far yet. Philly has a really good line up, the Marlins are a good young team, and well as Kevin said the West is a joke, complete joke. It all comes down to how the cubs can play on the road and how healthy that team can be.

Also to Fish1- Sorry about the dumb fans again! We actully had a good and intelligent debate backed up by facts going on, o well!

Mets are hot again too in the east, its not gonna take much to win the east or west. My problem with voting in the fish is that there dead last in defense in the all of baseball. You give good teams extra outs in the playoffs and they will bury you. Its too early to predict what will happen in the playoffs but u'll see my picks in about a month.

No problem Tyson, understood. I know that one bad apple won't spoil this bunch. In regards to your bullpen, I think I have a solution. How about Michael Wurtz for 2 coupons to the Sizzler? You can have him if you want that Charlie Brown looking Son of a Gun, he gets me so mad. I am afraid that we might hurt in that catagory as well, Marmol and Wood can't throw every inning of relief and Cotts, Howry and Wuertz-less are not cutting it. And Lieber? Forget about it. Farve in a Bears uni?? Wow, that's what dreams are made of....Also, I am starting an Alfonso Soriano Gold Glove campaign when he comes back if anyone wants to join!

Nope its not bad at all, theres not a football fan alive who doesnt respect what favre has done. This man is a walking legend, the packers arent willing to release him just yet, maybe trying to get him to stay retired, but if that doesnt happen then look for him to be traded Deffiently not to a divison rival tho, him going to the vikings puts the vikings as the favorite in the north. Him as a bear, makes the bears playoff contenders again. I look for brett favre if he is traded to go somewhere like tampa bay where they collect qb's like cars, wouldnt rule out carolina but the packers wont be dumb enough to trade him to a team within the divison.

Here comes my real point tho, how many times have we seen this? A legend who should prolly hang em up but doesnt..then goes on to play one last season, on a bench examples(:Mariono Namath, montanna payton) when your a legend, you hold on you to your legend status, you leave on top, you leave on your own terms. Brett Favre doesnt need money, he doesnt need anything from football anymore that he doesnt already have. Hes done it all, Hes been through his peaks and valleys won and lost, the last thing i wanna see the legend that is number 4 do is sit a bench.
Granted he had a great season last year, the best i can remember him ever having w/o a super bowl title. It was fun to watch, but not all of that was brett favre, the pieces were there in green bay he had talent around him. All im saying is Brett should go down as an icon of the game, a grid iron God not arron rodgers back up.

Kevin good point. Prime example look at Willie Mays with the Mets. Even my boy Sandberg tried to come back and it was pretty ugly. It's just hard when you are such a competitor that you can't stand to watch the games from the sidelines. It's like those old dudes that don't miss a single HS game that still go to the games in their 20 yr old letter jacket and yell about "what they would have done in that situation". Those guys don't have a clue. I haven't been to a game in 12 yrs. cause it hurts too bad to not be out there yourself! I think that's what Favre's deal is, he is such a player that he can't see himself as an analyst, commentator, or even as a coach or watching the game from home. It just hurts too bad not being out there doing what you love best. Most guys like Favre would rather risk looking bad for a year or two than not being able to play the game.

Kevin you are wrong. Im a football fan who doesnt respect Brett Favre. I am tired of this. Green Bay is tired of this. Football fans should be tired of this. This guy can not keep doing this, retiring, or at least thinking about retiring for 3 seasons. Then he finally does announce his retirement, then begs to come back. MAKE UP YOUR MIND! I have always said Brett Favre was a punk. He cried if he didnt have an awesome team around him, and let it be known that was the reason the pack was not winning, not his record for interceptions.
Anyone remember when golden Brett had a little addiction to pain killers? Vicodin I beleive it was. Can you imagine the backlash for a minute that there would be if a player like Terell Owens had to go to rehab for addiction to DRUGS! Everyone would be calling him to be banned from football. But Golden Brett does it and its such a great story that he over came it. It's bullshit! This guy messed with the Packers for 3 years, delaying their moving forward, making them have 2 game plans every offyear. He finally gives them a decision, they move their franchise forward with a new QB, then he says o yeah I wanna play again. Brett only thinks of himself. I read a story about him, this is a quote from Brett Favre. " I understand that the Green Bay Packers are moving forward and have moved on since I retired, but where does that leave me?" THAT LEAVES YOU RETIRED LIKE YOU ANNOUNCED IN MARCH!! When is everyone gonna get of the Favre high horse and realize he only cares about himself. He is gonna end up getting released and playing against the packers. Im no packers fan, but if that happens, I can only hope and A.J. Hawk sack takes him out for the rest of his career, which should be over anyways.

Come on now Tyson...This man is a living legend and Kevin is right...looked as ever last year up until he threw the game losing interception in the NFC Championship game...but that is just something that happens when you try to make something happen. Eli Manning could have just as easily looked like a zero instead of a hero had Tyree not made a spectacular catch in the SuperBowl...Players play...All this man has ever known since probably age 12 is playing football. He is only 37 now and after 17 seasons as a "Golden boy" finally ran into a little adversity which made him make a rushed decision.
Now you know I am a Bears fan orange and blue through and through, and have spent around 15 years hating #4...but in the words of Wes Mantooth, "I hate you Brett Favre... but Damn it...I respect you! I would give him a bears helmet and not even worry about him learning the playbook...tell him "Brett, just go do your thing out there!"

Tyson i respect your thoughts as a friend and a person but honestly senice i could remember like playing madden in 2003 you have always hated brett favre. Like your points were solid, but I cant jump on to the Brett Favres a creep cause he had a pain killer addiction. Pacman Jones has has assualt charges, wreckless endangerment charges weapon charges and yet there are fans in big D getting ready to cheer for him. Ron Artest, attacked fans but yet fans cheer for him.
Josh Hamilton had a meth and drinking problem that almost killed him and yet we root for him. People make mistakes. Its human nature

Tho i do think Favre should hang them up. I respect the fact that he wants to play, I think he is going about it wrong but if the man wants to play then the packers have options they dont haft to keep him they can release him, or trade him its not like its not number 12s turn its clear it is. Lets not sit around and feel bad for the packers cause they made bank off what favre built. The packers have made a choice to move on, so they should let favre move on too if thats what he wants to do.

Kevin, the only thing you can gather out of that is the pain killer thing???? I made many other points, Favre is SELFISH! I dont believe in this they rushed me to make a decision bullshit because he has been thinking about retiring for 3 years now and has jerked with the Packers till training camp every time. You can not honestly deny he is a selfish person for doing this. You say all the Packers have to do is trade him or release him. Brett has said he doesnt want to be traded cause he wants to control where he goes, because he wants to play for a contender. I can respect that I dont blame him for that. But not every contending team is in the market for a 37 year old quarterback. Not to mention they know they can screw the Packers over by low balling their offer, cause Brett wants out. Then there is the option of releasing him. I could understand this, however I think Brett should have to agree not to sign with an NFC team. The Packers shouldnt have to play against him cause he cant make up his mind about playing. The Packers im sure would be thrilled to have Brett on the team, but the guy announced his retirement, and the team moved on. All Brett can say to that is "where does that leave me?" That leaves him retired, where he should be!

P.S. I'm not saying we shouldnt cheer for him because of his whole addiction to drugs. Im just saying you hardly heard anything about it after it happened. Like I said, if T.O. went to rehab for pain killers, people would want him out of the league cause thats not a role model thing to do.

Tyson i said that your points were soild. i just really touched on the drugs thing, listen I dont blame the packers for moving on that times gonna come and its not fair to Rodgers to haft to wait another year to take over what should be his team, hes put his time in, its his show now in Green Bay. Im not saying favre handled everything right, it sure is ironic that the person he allowed to be interviewed by was a native of Wisconsin, and a pakers share holder. No real tuff questions to sack favre there in that interview, but this is the NFL, So many players come and go. This league is a cut throat league, its not like baseball or any other sport where u can go to minor league teams and try to get your game back. When they deem you done your done. Ur not collecting a pay check when your not playing, u dont get paided til week 1. not even close to implying that Favre needs money but i am trying to show that this league is much harder then any other league to mantain any kind of longevity. I dont feel bad for the Packers, and I dont feel bad for Favre, they both got themselves in this boat. All i ask is that if he wants to play then release him or trade him or start him and let him play somewhere. I dont know if favre was rushed into making a decsion maybe he was the draft is in march his season ended in january thats not a long time to choose weither to leave or play and im sure the packers were asking everyday and rightfuly so.

Also with the addiction thing Favre admitted to his problems, lessons could be learned like josh hamilton theres the proof of why this stuff is bad.

Also it was a different time for sports, now days u cant watch espn without someone getting in trouble for something. Im not saying this is new but back then it didnt happen nor was reported on near as much. I dont have a problem with Favres pill problem i really dont, it could be worse he could be drunk and driving endangering more than himself. Lets not foget about the players who have done this act before favre and after favre athletes u wanna talk about selfish yeah there all selfish, loyalty does not like with the logo it lies with the money. Its so hard for me to care about the packers over the player the legend that is brett favre. Brett earned every little privilage that he got. it wasnt just given to him he earned it. If hes spoiled a little maybe a little selfish then who really cares. Thats life everyones always trying to look out for number 1.

Im getting back on to the baseball subject it now appears that there is a new person with a list of recpeits from players not menitoned in the mitchelle report who were buying roids. Also it finally looks like roger clemens will most deffiently at one point be spending time behind bars for lieing to congress, there were papers proving that roger clemens had drugs shipped to his house for his wife during her SI swim suit pictorial in 2003. Oh roger roger, how the truth sets you free.

Kevin you contradicted yourself. You talked about how players dont have pride in their team only themselves and how that is selfish, then you said you dont care about the Packers, only Brett Favre. Brett only cares about himself to, you guys should hang out!

Also, although Clemens SHOULD go to prison, we all know if you are rich and famous and America, you usually dont go to prison.

Tyson all im saying is when it comes down to it, both sides will always look our for their own best intrest. The packers loyaltyh to favre is because every sunday theres 60,000 people in the seats, most of them wearing a number 4 jersey. over 16 years how much money do you think favre has brought to that organization? Neither side is right in this situation, but the packers have more options then favre, release him, or trade him to an afc team.

WOW, i dont know who seen it yesterday but the padres played the numbers loaded the bases yesterday for little little arron miles, and what does he do? Hits the most bad ass walk off grandslam you or i have ever seen then swells up at the plate, he got big like the incredible hulk, It was awesome!! Cardinals are sitting two back and are just playing pretty damn good were just clicking, even tho it was a 4 game sweep agaisnt the padres. While a team the cubs should of had the same sucess agasint took 3 of 4 from them. Talk about a team who if they cant figure out how to win on the road is done by september.
