Somebody call the Whaaambulance! Ohney cried for an hour about someone going up the middle. Acknowledged by everyone as the guy who swings for the middle every time up, how can you seriously cry about someone hitting up the middle at you? Even after your team gave our pitcher 4 fuckin' seeds up the middle. If there is anyone who shouldn't have anything to say, It's you!! If I were pitching, you would have never seen a pitch. And rest assure, you won't next time!! Don't even bring your bat.

First off you little "poop stain"...I hit 1 ball up the middle and it was my first at bat in 3 weeks....2nd,there is a difference between what kyle did and what we did...every pitch russ threw was outside...kyle turned and shot middle...If that is how league is......i would walk me 8 times next game tooo.....russ will have a limp if i see a pitch!!!!!

Oh , now we got to get into name calling you poop stain? You can't take an outside pitch to right field? That's everyone's excuse when they go middle. "It was an outside pitch," or "Don't throw it over the plate" Where the hell are you supposed to throw it? You can hit that ball anywhere on the field you want to, you choose to go middle. That's fine, you pitch. I get it. But don't cry like some 16 year old girl who got "ice cream sprinkles" on Friday and dumped on Saturday when you get hit at....."sausage"!!

This is good...ha ha
Nice to see someone else at it...
Anyways, I have to agree, most players can control where the ball goes and accidents happen...but if your bringing it up the middle every time at me your gonna need the bat removed from your ass. I've seen alot of pitchers hurt badly by assholes coming up the middle on purpose, and I'm not going to let some jackass take me out of a job for any period of time... It's just bullsh*t, if you cant get a hit anywhere else then don't bat, just stay in the dugout and fetch me some water and light my cigs when I tell you too... ha ha
I'm out ho's...

I pitch and can shoot middle everytime if i want...1 ball up the middle in my 7 at bats is far from every at bat...Russ cried first after CATCHING his 3rd ball. In 2 games...Then big guy turns and shoots...Fuck him and you!!! How can a 2nd baseman talk shit about middle anyway?? I pitch ..you get your chances

hey pot.......kettle is calling!!!

not trying to stir things, but lets get the facts

it was the 1st inning, with men on and O is gonna go middle? no reason to.

Russ has a pitch that starts outside then breaks in at the last second. its a good pitch, but it lends itself to that type of hit.

but dont cry foul because lets remember back to Dan's tourny....the last time we(Krehbiel) played you guys(Miller)in the championship game..........is someone forgetting that you guys hit middle at least 3 times, and then Bobby almost decapitated Johnny Coles!!! that one could have been a lot worse than it was......and after that, the very next batter(the starter of this thread) about knee-capped Johnny on the next pitch!!!! were those accidents?? those were nasty hits and there was no retaliation on our part.

so pot, dont go accusing O of doing it on purpose, you would know it if he wanted to.

I know for a fact he goes middle just for shits and giggles. I've heard him talk about it. I could care less if he goes middle. Just don't throw a fit when it happens to him. Ohney would shoot the middle if his kid was pitching to him.

Ohney and I are pretty good buddies. Which is why I'm even getting away with some of the things I've said. We've worked together off and on for 6 or 7 years. I'm sure no one realizes that with as much as we talk shit to each other. You would think that we hate each other.(only on game nights) He has every right to go middle. If I shot the middle 8 times in one game, I don't feel like I have the right to bitch if someone on the other team does it. That's all I'm trying to say. Ben, you're right. Your pitcher got hit at twice, both times were shots.(marion tourney) You guys had every right to retaliate, but didn't. On the other hand, I'm not too sure if Bobby Howell can really control where he hits it. If you don't believe me ask Ohney. I'm pretty sure Bobby pitched that game too and trust me, after what Ohney did to him, Bobby doesn't want any part of someone shooting the middle. Ohney gets off on other people's misfortunes. Don't let him fool you, he's looking to put a hole in someone every time up!!! And as far as me and him talkin' shit, we both take it with a grain of salt. It's all for fun! It will make our next game that much more interesting!

In league i hit right field and hrs..i can buzz everytime up iif i wanted to..after russ caught the first 1 i dindt even come close to him...after getting hit in the shoe..i pulled the ball..Just dont understand why you have an opinion playing 2b...Pitch to good teams one time before you open your mouth

You pulled the ball because our 3rd baseman was 30 ft off the line. At least I played in the game. We got people who weren't even there offering their oppinion. If I could throw a strike I would pitch. You know I can't throw a strike. I don't know why. Probably shaking too much. Just can't do it. What the hell does playing 2nd base have to do with anything? If you were playing short and your pitcher got hit, you're telling me you wouldn't shoot the middle or have something to say about it? C'mon Ron!!lol

I'd like to point out one GLARING inaccuracy. I'm surpised anyone would have said this and that the Miller Lite guys would have let him lie like this.

It would have been a 4 run HR, not a 3 run HR. How do I know??? They intentionally walked me to load the bases for Ohney.

I'm like Pujols before Holliday. No protection.

Pujols , Holliday ? UMM, Marion Softball-LOL !! EZ there tiger- Relax
I'm tired of hearing Pitcher's Bitch about the middle open!
It's jus like someone trainning for a job , then getting the job, & then bitching about job!!
Don't pitch then!! You know when you pitch, the ball can come back at you on accident OR on purpose!! & you jus may have to field the middle! Cuz it all hurts the same!!
Of course middle is open! It's between the lines!! Back UP !!, Get a mask & other protection,or let someone else pitch, if you can't handle it!!
If the pitcher goes middle ,So Fkn what,he's pitchn!
These days pitching is Damn tuff!! & I have much respect for all pitchers ! We all know
Some games are more intensity filled than others, but the pitcher has to be ready & focused on every pitch! So should every1 else!! If You as a pitcher are worried about a certain hitter(s)If they would shoot middle on ya& you never see the ball (3 that come to mind would be Bubba,O,&Holland) you have control on what to do with them.(jus like a hr hitter up & basehitter on deck)Ur ahead barely. They may get walked!!(Ask Wes)strategy or common sense. But It's jus a game, still I don't know anyone who likes to lose. JMO

Very well put Jeffro and i think O would agree with that statement as would Joe Witt and myself bats are hot balls are hard and u are throwing underhand from 50 foot why do u think the pitcher covers 2nd base alot cause we are backpedling from the moment it leaves are hand but u said it best if u dont like it dont pitch !!! Dont get me wrong i dont like them back up the middle but i knew that was part of it when i said i would toe the rubber

Big Robbie is another middle sniper that could getcha! I think Im ok at 3rd base, but pitchers mound is closer & I have pitched a few games & that sh*t comes quick!!The old saying has to apply-"you can't catch, what you can't see"& if one of those guys I named before were comming up & U was getting bad vibes, walk em!! & if anyone on your team says something kindly give them the ball!!
If I was running a team- "My pitcher" Would Not PAY for nothing all through the year!

wow, i'm sick for 2 days and counting and all hell breaks loose on here, lol.

this is my opinion.

1) League and weekend/tournament softball are night and day difference. I'm talking about league/recreational softball below.

2) "hitting middle" is gay. There, I said it.

3) Accidents are absolutely gonna happen, but doing something like "hitting middle" where there is any chance at all of taking another man away from his wife/child/work/etc.. in a league game, I won't do it. There are even guys that I won't go middle on if I played them in a tournament softball.

Weekend ball is completely different.

Lets just make this clear-
There are 3 different divisions in mens summer league & I have played in the "elite" & "A" & Both had some High intensity games!&(played on weekends too)& of course intense there.

Jus because you go middle, doesn't mean your trying to take pitchers head off. Or make him take time away from anyones family or whatever recovering in hospital.
My Opinion is a good HITTER should be able to go to All fields !!
A 13 hopper to shortstop is GAY !! JMO

your wrong fisher.mine was an accident(trying to hit a hr)..when a pitcher hits the middle he opens the door for the other pitcher to hit back. When other player get involved in hitting middle on purpose, i ask everyone on my team hit middle back. Chances are one of us will get hit... It shouldnt get to that in league. In tourneys, hit it at me everytime. Im going middle too

You have never accidently hit middle. O.K, you were trying to hit a home run...TO CENTER FIELD!!! If you miss it, you either pop up or hit the pitcher. I guess I'm wrong if we're going by Ohney's rules. I agree that in weekend tourneys, the whole field is open. You're head hunting every time! Probably church league too!!

as I said in my post, I'm not going to risk hurting a pitcher. Balls can hit the mound, a rock, you miss your hole, etc... It's personally not worth it to me for any level of league ball, especially with people that I know or are friends with.

A good hitter should be able to go to all fields, but that's not what we're talking about. All of us can hit backside or pull the ball for a basehit. Sometimes you miss and hit it to the SS or 2B. Sometimes you miss going middle, hit it right to the pitcher and it's a double play.

It's just not worth it to me.

This happened this weekend in Indianapolis D Super Worlds. The ball was a shot back up the middle that hit around the pitching mound and came right up.

************************************************

Just wanted to report to anyone on here who might know old man Joe Merritt from our team Geddis Roofing, Century 21, and also Schones Chiropractor was injured pitching today for us in Indy at Midwest on the astro turf field.

This happened around 4 this afternoon, Joe took a shot to his face and left eye. It is 11:15 now and they just took him to surgery for his eye, we are at St. Vincent hospital in Indy.

The doctors have told us that he is most likely going to lose his vision in his left eye, they also will have to repair bone structure around the socket. Joe is also my father-in-law so its real tough to see him go thru this, but for those of you who know Joe he is a tough s.o.b. He refused to have his UA shirt and our team jersey cut off so they had to force it over his head to get it off!! Also had to get his stomach pumped from all the blood he has swalloed.

Surgery will take a few hours and then a day or 2 here at the hospital before he can go back to Columbus.

If your the praying type Joe could use it along with his wife Pam. Joe works for the railroad and this injury will probably cause early retirement, its amazing how one ball up the middle can change so many things for a family that quick.

I for one would like to see a mask of some sort on all of you guys that pitch, its just not worth what the family is going thru tonight over softball.

I really feel for this guy & his family . Along with others that have been hurt on the mound.
I agree, in mens slo-pitch pitchers should be required to wear a mask!!
We all know & love sports & the risk we take when we play them.
From playing hockey- I've had my jaw,& my nose broke. front tooth knocked out! & 16 staples on left knee from surgery, to name a few things.
I can Guarantee everyone has or knows someone whos had bad stuff happen to them in a sport of some kind.(maybe not as bad as loss of sight, or maybe even worse- loss of life!)
What is happening to pitchers in slo-pitch softball is just sickening! & to know much of the head trama could be avoided if the" hire ups" in SOFTBALL, would just make it MANDATORY that pitchers wear a mask!! That would take the "to cool to wear a mask" guys & Make em wear 1 too!! Maybe marion could start that rule??
