Blue Rocks comeback falls short and A's win!
The A's took an 8-0 lead, scoring in each of the first 6 innings, and had the bases loaded with 0 outs in the 6th; ready to put the game away when the Blue Rocks new acquisition pitcher Alvin Hollier came in to keep the game at 8-0. That inspired the Blue Rocks, who scored 3 in the 7th, 2 in the 8th, and then scored 2 in the 9th and had the tying run at 3rd with 2 outs. Up came Dennis Clancy who already had 3 hits on the day. A's manager Steve Fleishman decided to bring in reliever Dave Becker who has been a teammate with Clancy for about 15 years to try to put out the fire. A groundout later and the A's hold on for the win. For the A's, starter Pat Estrada hurled a fine 7 innings (allowing only 3 runs), Jon Ross had 3 hits, and Eric Cain had 3 RBI's. For the Blue Rocks, Young, Clancy and Weaver each had 3 hits. Good game by both short-handed squads today.
