GARCIA THROWS SHUTOUT IN MARAUDER VICTORY

MIRA MESA: The Marauders, ranked 8th in the latest U-T San Diego rankings, took a pair of Chargers Invitational contests Monday (Apr. 2), downing Valhalla 4-1, then Banning 4-0.
Against the Norsemen, Vanta's game-tying homer to open the 3rd inning was over-ruled to a ground-rule double. However, two outs later, TANI LEASAU lifted a bloop single to get the teams even, then she gave Mira Mesa the lead by stealing second base, then advancing around on an error and a wild pitch.
The Marauders were later given a pair of unearned runs in the 5th.
In game two, freshman ALICIA GARCIA registered her first career shutout to stop Banning, 4-0.
