45s Hang On
With the tying run at first in the top of the ninth, the Colt 45s were able to hang on to the lead.
The first place Grays out hit their opponents 16-11, and played errorless ball only to run themselves out of a couple of bases loaded scenarios that yielded no runs.
The Colts jumped out to a 7-1 lead, chasing Grays' starter Shawn Carter in the third. Scoring three times in the fourth and the superb relief pitching of Chris Gautier kept the Grays in the hunt. Their ninth inning rally fell short, but the much improved Grays are a team to be reckoned with.
The Colts played their usual "team" style play with everyone contributing, big hits included doubles by Bryen Cass, Rober Lewis and league leader, Garrett Ray.
Bill Brown was the man on the mound for the 45s, striking out the side and the heart of the Grays lineup in the sixth, pitching three scoreless innings and notching the "W."
