Stallions out the gate early to best the Grays
The Stallions scored first and that was enough for Jr. Esparza to twirl another complete game shutout, downing the Grays 7-0. After taking a 5 run beating in the 2nd, giving up a couple more in the 3rd, Grays starter Shawn Carter shut down the equine offense for the next 3 innings and Arnie Costell did the same for the last 2 innings. Their effort was too late as Esparza again held the Grays to 5 hits and a walk. He now has 17 consecutive innings of shutout ball to go along with his league-leading ERA and strikeout total. Did someone say Cy Young? Jack Sanchez and Mario Aceves had multi-hit games, while Mike McCann's booming line drive that made it about 30 feet up the line resulted in a pair of RBIs and one of the rarest visuals ever - that of McCann standing at 2nd base.
