Greece Win in One 9 Inning Game Instead of DH
With a scheduling mistake by Arkport and the 95 degree heat, both teams decided to change the double header into a single 9 inning game. Greece took the win 10-3
The Generals got on the board in the 3rd when Victor Torres hit an inside the park home run with a shot to right center that got to the fence and coach was not stopping Torres.
Ryan Ballard drew a bases loaded walk in the 5th to score the 4th run.
Greece exploded for 6 runs in the 6th inning even after the first two batters of the inning were out. Thomas Finnerty hit a single to left, followed by a Jake Wamser infield single. Torres sent a line drive to right to score Finnerty. Wamser scores after back to back walks. Ballard knocked in two more with a line drive to left. Jack Berbert followed suit with a 2 run single himself to cap off the scoring.
Ray Mineo got the start going 5 innings allowing 1 run on 3 hits and striking out 4. Connor Hong came in to throw the 2nd half and earned himself a 4 inning save en route to striking out 8 batters.
Torres led the way with the home run and 4 RBIs. Finnerty was 3 for 4 with a double. James Sciortino reached base 4 times with a hit and 3 walks to lead the offense for GP (11-4-1)
