Matt Mish & Jose Moreno Lead South Park Over Bulldogs 7-1
South Park was in need of a win after their lackluster performance in their last game, an ugly 5-4 loss to Port Vue. Starting pitcher Matt Mish and reliever Jose Moreno made sure South Park would have a chance, not just with their arms but also with their bats. The duo would hold the Bulldogs to 1 run and combine for 5 hits and and 4 RBI on the offensive end. Mish worked 5 innings on the mound, and after some early control issues settled in to allow one run while walking 2 and striking out 4. Moreno would emerge from the bullpen to pitch a very strong 6th and 7th, retiring the Bulldogs in order while fanning 3. South Park would take the lead for good in the 2nd when with 2 outs, Vinnie Markulin would fight through a 10 pitch at bat to finally drop in a single and score 2 to make it 2-1 South Park. In the 3rd inning Moreno would come up with a big 2 out double to drive in 2 more South Park runs to extend the lead to 6-1 and chase Bulldogs starter Garrett Senchur from the game. Moreno finished the night 3-3 with the double and 2 singles with 3 RBI and a run scored. Matt Mish would go 2-3 with 2 scored, an RBI and a stolen base. The Bulldogs Zach Gray would prove to be a tough out as he would go 3-3 with a triple in his quest for the Daily News League batting title.
