Trio Of South Park Pitchers One Hits Greenfield In 11-2 Romp

With no pitchers available for this Friday evening game, South Park turned to 3 non- pitchers to shut down the Greenfield offense while the South Park bats got their recently stagnant offense rolling. South Park scored 8 times in the first 3 innings to give starting pitcher Daniel Pelaez a nice cushion before he turned the ball over to Michali Brito, who was brilliant in his pitching debut for South Park. Brito would fan 5 over 3 innings, giving up no hits and walking one in earning the win. Ryan Dodson would close out the last 2 innings and proved equally effective, with his only blemish being an HBP that was quickly nullified by a 4-6-3 double play. Offensively South Park totaled 13 hits, led by multi hit performances from Luis Gonzalez, Dylan Kugler and Adam Weber. Gonzalez was a perfect 3-3 at the plate including a home run to center and 2 RBI. Kugler continued his torrid pace, driving in 4 on 2 deep doubles. Weber also doubled and drove in a run. Veteran slugger Adam Dodson reached base 3 times with an RBI single, a walk and his league leading 7th hit by pitch. Dodson also swiped a bag to put himself in a tie for the league lead in stolen bases. A second inning Mike Pfleger single was the only hit for Greenfield. Greenfield had 2 batters reach on error and drew 3 walks and had two HBPs during the game, but the SP pitching and defense would nullify them after a sketchy second inning where 2 errors were committed allowing Greenfield both of their runs. South Park will take on their rivals the Snappers Saturday evening.
