A's have 4 balls ... 17 times ... in rout of Colt 45s

Unsurprisingly in a game with 17 walks, the A's began the bottom of the 1st with a walk. Kevin Landis would bring that run home and more when he crushed a 3-run homer to open the scoring. The A's would add another unearned run in the 1st on 2 walks and an error, but they were just getting started. After a quiet 2nd inning, the A's started the bottom of the 3rd with a ground out and a walk, then 4 of the next 6 batters had RBI hits to make the score 10-0 (Ken Brignall double, Rajon Jernigan single, Dan McWilliams single, Jim Marchione single). That brought on a pitching change and the A's brought out their walking shoes. Six walks, a hit batter and another pitcher later and the A's had scored 11 runs in the 3rd to go up 15-0. In the 4th a leadoff error and walk turned into 5 more runs when 5 of the next 6 batters singled.

On the mound, Ken Brignall threw 4 shutout innings, only allowing 4 hits while striking out 5, to pick up the win. With just 12 hits, the only A's with multiple hits were Ron Biser and Kevin Landis. However, Brignall, Jim Marchione, and Steve Platts were perfect on the afternoon with a hit, multiple walks, and multiple runs. Cory Metzbower had 2 of the Colt 45s' 5 hits in the loss.
