Homeruns from Gohn and Staub lead Brew Crew to win over A's
Barak Gohn welcomed the 2025 season by smacking a 2-run homerun just two batters into the first game of the day, a lead that the Brew Crew would never relinquish in this low-scoring affair. The A's took advantage of some sloppy play by the Brew Crew to cut the lead to 1 run at 3-2 in the 2nd inning without the aid of a hit. Chris Staub led off the 4th inning with the Brew Crew's second homerun of the day, and they added an insurance run that inning thanks to 2 walks, a single and a hit batter. The A's Dan McWilliams (4 hits) and Brew Crew's Mark Lomenzo (2 hits, 3 walks, 5 Ks) would shut down the offenses for the rest of the game, with each pitching 3 scoreless innings.
