Expos score 8 unanswered runs to erase 5-run deficit

The Colt 45's Josh Knaub started the season with a bang. Batting 2nd in the top of the 1st, he crushed a solo homer to straight away center to open the scoring. The Colt 45's then loaded the bases on a double, single and hit batter, but the Expos escaped without further damage by turning a double play to end the inning. The 45's added 3 more in the 2nd, with the big hits being a Troy Absher RBI double and a Doug Kauffman 2-out RBI single. The Expos got on the board in the 2nd on an RBI single by Ron Lehman, but the Colt 45's got that run back and more in the top of the 3rd with an RBI single by Josh Knaub and a bases loaded walk by Greg Pomraning. Joel Kauffman led off the top of the 4th with a single, but was erased on the Expos 2nd double play. That would be their last hit of the game, but it wouldn't be the last time they threatened to score. The Expos finally got to Josh Knaub, who had 6 Ks through 3, in the 4th inning, scoring 5 runs to tie the game. TJ Richartz opened the scoring with an RBI double and Ron Lehman knocked in the tying run with an RBI single. In the 5th, the Colt 45's loaded the bases with 1 out on 3 straight walks, but the Expos turned their 3rd double play of the game to keep the game tied. The Expos threatened to take the lead in the 5th when the first two batters reached on singles, but the Colt 45's turned their 2nd double play of the game to keep the game tied. The Expos 6th started the same way--with 2 singles to open the inning--but they were able to capitalize this time with an RBI fielder's choice and 2 bases loaded walks to take a 9-6 lead. The Colt 45's brought the winning run to the plate in the top of the 7th, loading the bases on an error and 2 walks with no outs, but Adam Martin was able to work out of the jam with a strike out and a 4th double play to end the game.

Josh Knaub and Joel Kauffman each had 2 hits for the Colt 45's. The Expos' Bryan Dissinger led all batters with 3 hits. Keith Acosta, Ron Lehman and Andy Zayas were all 2-for-2 for the Expos.
