Cubs hold Rays to 2 runs and never trail in win
Five straight Cubs reached in the top of the 2nd, leading to 3 runs, and Tyler and Bill Anderson made that stand up for the win. The Rays got 1 back in the bottom of the inning on an Earl Kirk bases-loaded walk, but wouldn't score again until the 6th. In the top half of the 3rd and 6th innings, the Cubs would get their first 2 batters on base and would add 3 total runs to open the lead to 6-1 with the help of an untimely error by the Rays in each inning. Each team added one more run for the 7-2 final. Anthony Kim, Ray Smith, and Tom Anderson each had 2 hits for the victorious Cubs, while Jerry Leisher and Justin Price both had a single and double for the Rays.
