Expos score 6 without a hit in 1st en route to 10-run win
Eight walks and an error led to 6 Expos runs in the bottom of the first. They expanded the lead to 11-0 in the 2nd with 5 runs after 2 outs on 5 hits and 3 walks. Keith Acosta had a 2-run single in the inning. Another Acosta 2-run single made the score 13-0 after 3 innings. The Red Sox broke through in the 4th inning, scoring 5 runs with 2 outs. Oscar Blanco and Jason Barmore each had 2-run singles. The Expos got those runs right back in the bottom of the inning, with the last runs scoring on an Ed Miller 2-run single. The Red Sox scored the final 3 runs of the game on 4 walks and a hit in the top of the 5th to make the final 18-8. Mercifully, on this blazing hot day, the time limit had been reached.
The Expos' Bryan Dissinger led all hitters with 3 hits. Acosta was the only other player with more than 1 hit on a day that ended with 24 walks combined between the two teams.
