Dodgers knock off Royals in rain-shortened game
The story of the game was Dan Shafer, who pitched 4 no-hit inning to begin the game, working around 5 walks while striking out 4, to pick up the win. There was no score in the game after 2 innings, but then the Dodgers opened up a can of "Whoop-Ass" in the bottom of the 3rd, scoring 8 runs. They added 3 more in the bottom of the 4th to open up an 11-0 lead in a game that was unlikely to go 7 innings with the rain getting worse. The Royals broke through in the top of the 5th with 4 runs on 5 hits, but the weather would literally dampen any chance of a comeback as the game was called after the top of the 5th.
The Dodgers' Brian Crimmel and Jon Kilmer led all hitters with 2 hits. Four players had 2 RBIs on the afternoon--the Royals' Chas Chambers and the Dodgers' Dylan Acker, Jim Howard, and Shane Bare.
