Blue Wahoos' pitching leads them to win over Red Sox
Tracy Fuller started the scoring for the Blue Wahoos in the bottom of the first, hitting a 2-run single to right. Mike King added an RBI single later in the inning for a 3-0 lead. The score would stay that way until the top of the 4th. After a strikeout to start the 4th, the Wahoos' Ben Knouse had gotten 8 straight outs with Ks and was trying to finish 4 shutout innings, but the Red Sox had different ideas. The next two batters reached base, then after a pop up, Jeremy Haag knocked in the first Sox run with a single to right center. An error on the next batter would cut the lead to 3-2 and prove costly as Barry Lucabaugh followed with a 2-run single to give the Red Sox the lead at 4-3. The Blue Wahoos didn't wait long to take the lead back. In the bottom of the inning, the first 3 Wahoos singled, with the last one from Mike King knocking in 2 runs and putting the Wahoos up 5-4. They would add another run when a leadoff walk came around to score on Mike Bond's single in the 6th. Meanwhile, Phil Polakoff entered for the Blue Wahoos in the 5th and only allowed a 2-out triple in the 5th and a 2-out single in the 6th, pitching 3 shutout innings, to pick up the save.
Mike King (2 hits, 3 RBIs) and Tracy Fuller (2 hits, 2 RBIs, run, walk) led the Blue Wahoos offense to victory. For the Red Sox, Jeremy Haag had 2 hits.
