Badgers Strike Early & Often, Hang On For Dear Life For Win
The Badger Empire jumped on the A's by scoring one run in the first inning, but immediately gave that run back to the A's with some less-than-stellar defense that would unfortunately continue to rear its ugly head throughout the contest. The third inning also saw a run scored in both halves of the inning, but the Badgers blew the game open with four runs plated in the fifth inning, followed by two more runs in both the seventh and eighth innings. Barber yielded to Thorpe in the seventh inning up 10-2, but the Badgers shaky defense allowed the A's to come storming back in the bottom of the ninth where they scored six runs and left the tying runs on base as Thorpe struck out the final batter to secure the hard-fought-- but almost shoddily lost-- victory. The A's will welcome the Bedford Bison to Al Lemire field next weekend, while the Badgers will return to their historical home field in Epping against the surging Seacoast Braves.
