Base Invaders Earn Walk-Off Win Over Port Vue River Cats

It came down to the wire on Tuesday, as Base Invaders grabbed the victory in walk-off fashion, 6-5, over the Port Vue River Cats. The game was tied at five in the bottom of the seventh when an error scored one run. Despite falling down by four runs in the first inning, Port Vue River Cats tried to fight back. Port Vue River Cats closed the gap by scoring on solo home runs from Chuck Fontana and Isiah Petty. Base Invaders got on the board in the bottom of the first inning after Brady Hodge doubled to center field and Dan Clevenger singled down the right field line, each scoring two runs. Port Vue River Cats tied the game up in the top of the seventh thanks to three runs in their final at bat. Mason Suss earned the win for Base Invaders. The pitcher surrendered three hits and three runs (zero earned) over three innings, striking out two and walking none. JJ Siemon began the game for Base Invaders. The righty surrendered two hits and two runs over four innings, striking out eight and walking none. Mike Hines led things off on the hill for Port Vue River Cats. The southpaw surrendered five hits and five runs over three and one-third innings, striking out seven and walking four. Will Somers and Clevenger each collected two hits for Base Invaders. Clevenger and Hodge each drove in two runs for Base Invaders. Conner Anglin paced Base Invaders with three walks. Overall, the team had patience at the plate, accumulating seven walks for the game. Anglin stole two bases. Base Invaders ran wild on the base paths, tallying five stolen bases for the game. Petty lead the River Cats with two hits. Base Invaders will travel to Aul Bat Company for their next game on Saturday.
