Mets Stay Undefeated

Rick Reynolds of the Mets (4-0) pitched a masterful game keeping the expansion Expos (4-2) off balance with a mixture of pitches allowing eight scattered hits across seven innings. Expos starting pitcher Todd Garula fell victim to two costly errors in the first inning allowing five runs to score digging the Expos a hole from which they could not escape. Some chatter took place between Reynolds and shortstop and relief pitcher Doug Price when Price was hit a second time in the game. The jawing appeared to be friendly fire between the two veteran ball players.

Brian Koury led the Mets with three hits, including a double hit to the gap in the second inning, while Jeff Brokamp added two hits and a walk in his four plate appearances. Jeff Ebersole led the Expos with two hits while Doug Price was on base three of his four times to the plate.

There is no rest for the Mets who face off (excuse the hockey reference) against the Tigers at Ross Park on Sunday, while the Expos have a week to lick their wounds and come back slugging against the Gems at beautiful Testerman Park.
