Gems get exposed by the Expos
On a cold and wet night, the Expos' pitching dominated the Gems. Both teams were scoreless through the 3rd Inning when the Expos bats came alive. In the fourth the visitors plated 3 runs, two on sacrifice flies by Jamie Stidham and Tom Seibert. Key errors in the fifth left relief pitcher Cliff Cerbus looking for an out anywhere. Five runs later, the game seemed out of reach as a light drizzle and strong winds picked up. Overcast skies kept the game going through seven innings on what might have otherwise ended early. Expos highlights included a three-hit night for John Wayne and two hits each for Shay Burnett, Dave Moravec, Tom Seibert, and Jimmy Wolfe. Wolfe led the Expos with a well-pitched 5 inning outing. Rob Gay was also 2 for 2 on the night for the Gems. Next up for the Expos is a rematch against the Mets on Thursday back at Testerman, while the Gems face off against the Tigers on Wednesday at Schoolhouse.
