Mets Execute Season Sweep of Expos
In a rematch from just two weeks earlier, with the same starting pitchers on the mound (Reynolds-Mets, Garula-Expos) the results were the same. The game stayed close until the fifth inning when the Mets (8-0) jumped on the Expos (5-3) with a five-hit barrage, scoring four runs in the process.
The Mets' offense was firing on all cylinders, collecting 17 hits across seven innings. Dave Schultian led the charge, driving in six runs on three hits, while Brian Biggs added three runs of his own. Bill Moss contributed a perfect night at the plate, going 2-for-2 with two runs scored.
On the mound, Rick Reynolds was untouchable, pitching a complete-game shutout while allowing just five hits, striking out six and walking none. His pinpoint control ensured the Expos had no scoring opportunities, as they failed to plate a single run. He allowed only one runner to reach third base.
The Expos struggled to generate offense, tallying only five hits and striking out six times. Their pitching staff faced challenges containing the Mets, with Todd Garula taking the loss after surrendering seven runs over five innings.
Next up for the Expos are the Tigers (2-5) on Sunday in an afternoon affair at Lakota West. The Mets play on Wednesday against the Dragons (3-1) team who have as many rainouts as they have games played.
