Expos Bounce Back at Tiger's Expense
After a tough 13-0 loss to the Mets earlier in the week, the Expos put Jimmy Wolfe on the mound to earn his 4th win of the season. Kenn Gabbard suffered the loss for the Tigers in relief of Shawn Smith, who left a tie game after an injury caused him to sit out the remainder of the game.
Both teams hit the ball well with several extra base hits, including a double & triple by Tiger shortstop John Belamy. However, in the end, the 4th & 5th innings proved costly for the Tigers as the Expos plated 9 runs to take a commanding lead that they wouldn't relinquish.
The Expos had multiple hits from Dave Moravec (c), Doug Marlow (1B), Jamie Stidham (ss), Jimmy Wolfe (P), and Todd Garula who went a perfect 3 for 3 at the dish. In addition to Belamy, Tim Reed also had a multiple-hit game for the Tigers.
The crowd of 20 fans at Lakota West appreciated the hustle by both teams on a 75-degree sun-filled afternoon in West Chester. The road doesn't get easier for the Tigers, who face the Ducks on Wednesday, while the Expos' next opponent is the Colts.
