Reds Down Expos
The early morning matchup began as a pitchers duel between Reds starter Lonnie Robinson and the Expos lefthander, Todd Garula. However, a meltdown by the Expos in the bottom of the fifth, proved too costly to come back from. Nine runs were plated in the final two at-bats for the Reds who had multi-hit games from Chris Curtis and Wayne Wesley.
The play of the game came in the when John Urse attempted to bunt with runners on first and second with no outs. With runners in motion, Urse poked a little pop-up to pitcher Garula leaving Curtis and Wesley hung out to dry for an Expos franchise first triple-play.
Robinson got the win giving up seven scattered hits across his complete game victory with four strike-outs. Jamie Stidham was on base three times and scored the lone Expos run, and back from an ankle/foot injury, Steve Kruzel provided two hits for the losing Expos.
Both teams have quick turn arounds with the Reds playing the Mets and the Expos facing off against the Ducks in 6:30pm matchups at Warren County Sports park this Wednesday.
