Chrysler Peaks on Rockies in CG Win!
The Burlington White Sox climaxed to the peaks of Waterdown and eclipsed Joe Sam's Leisure Park in a victory over the Campbellville Rockies, 9-1.
Wait, Campbellville hosted the game in Waterdown??? Strange?? Quite confusing??? Apparently permits have been withheld from the righteous Rockies and are being guarded by 2 hurlers who can each throw 106mph! Hopefully order (and permits) will be restored promptly for Campbellville. Although Joe Sam's has a lovely dog park and playground area, the featured adult diamond might rank 10th (out of 10) in a list of park attractions.
For the game itself, Burlington struck quickly in the 1st inning when Brandon MacKay grounded out, cashing the leadoff hit from Jordan Stamp and one run plated. The Sox added two runs in the second after James Cossitt singled to center field. The White Sox would add 2 more in the 4th inning. Started by back-to-back doubles from J-Lay and J-Windisch and finished with a single from T.Windisch and an RBI groundout from Cossitt Sr. The 5th inning would be the largest offensive inning for Burlington in the game as Stamp, B-Mac and Moncur all singled to start the inning. Puerto Rico's finest, Jack Moncur would plate 2 with that 3rd single in the inning and score himself on a wild pitch. The 9th run would plate for the White Sox with Ben Singh taking care of business solo. A double, a stolen base and then a score on an errant throw.
Doug Chrysler was in vintage form on Sunday and earned the win for the White Sox. The starting pitcher allowed two hits and one run (zero earned) over seven innings, striking out five and walking none. A brilliant performance from the "ODC" that included picking off a base runner in the bottom of the 1st! Apparently "Dougie" is quite motivated with the promise of a post game BBQ with refreshments!
Joe Spiers took the loss for the Rockies. The starting pitcher went five innings, surrendering eight runs (seven earned) on 11 hits, striking out five and walking two.
The Sox tallied 14 hits in the game. Cossitt Sr led Burlington with three runs batted in from the number nine spot in the lineup. The left-handed hitter went 1-for-3 on the day. Jordan Windisch, Ben Singh, Jordan Stamp, and Jack Moncur each collected two hits for Burlington. The Sox ran wild on the base paths, piling up four stolen bases for the game.
Matt MacLeod and Call Up Serguey Hernandez Crespo each collected one hit for the Rockies.
The Burlington White Sox will travel to the Burlington Chihuahuas for their next game on Sunday June 15th.
