ODC Returns from Injury and Earns Win for Sox over Rockies!
The Burlington White Sox saw the return of the "ODC" Doug Chrysler on the bump (after a lenghty injury) and managed to win big over the Campbellville Rockies( of Waterdown) 12-2 on Wednesday night at Millcroft Park.
Burlington got on the board quickly in the bottom of the 1st inning as Jordan Stamp led off with a no-doubt solo home run to left field! This set the tone for a big inning for the Sox.Graham walked, Hodgson was HBP and then after several wild pitches, J-Lay singled, Uncle Reco singled, and the end result was a 5 run first.
The Rockies would counter in the top of the 2nd. Corey Loft, Jon, Call Up Chris Harrow and Matt MacLeod would all single. Eric Ritchie also took 1 of his 2 BBs on the day and Campbellville would plate 2.
Burlington struck back with 1 run in the bottom of the 2nd. Stamp turned a hard-90 into a single and then scored on a error in the OF from first!
The White Sox would continue the scoring in the 3rd. Moncur led off with a single. J-Lay would ROE and then Toons doubled, scoring 2 runs. Pedro would hit his 2nd single (of 3) on the day, scoring one run and capping a 3 run inning.
The Sox would continue to score in the 4th. Graham led off with double to the fence. Tan walked and then after a wild pitch, Moncur would cash Graham with a Sac Fly to CF. Tan would score later on an error. Ultimately 2 runs would score.
Cossitt JR would go from "jumping off" (the Skyway) to "walking off" the Rockies with a double in the 5th to score Pedro (after his 3rd single of the day) and reaching the mercy win.
Doug "ODC" Chrysler earned the win for Burlington. The experienced hurler allowed 6 hits and 2 runs over 4 innings, striking out 1 and walking 3 (with a tight zone).
Dakota Henderson took the loss for the Rockies. The left-handed pitcher went 4 and 1/3 innings, allowing 12 runs (8 earned) on 11 hits, striking out 4 and walking 4.
Dylan "Pedro" Grosul threw 1 inning of scoreless ball for Burlington in relief. The righty allowed 1 hit, striking out 2 and walking 1.
The Sox amassed 11 hits in the game. Pedro (from the 8 hole), led the team with 3 hits in 3 at-bats. Uncle Reco and Toons stayed hot and were a 1-2 punch in the lineup, as each drove in 2 runs for Burlington. Stamp collected 2 hits for Burlington and certainly had the hit of the day with the absolute bomb he nuked to announce his presence in a major way!
Matt MacLeod and Call Up Chris Harrow each drove in 1 run for the Rockies. Corey Loft led the Rockies with 2 hits in 2 at bats.
NEXT UP! A quick turnaround for the Sox who visit the depths of Glanbrook Park against the Snipers tomorrow. Glanny......the gift that keeps on taking!
