Game 11- Quinn Construction Takes Home Another Title
Quinn Construction nailed down its record breaking 9th title in the last 13 years last night by defeating the Allegheny Vision Vipers 6-2 at Baker Field. Quinn Construction held a 1-0 lead heading into the top of the 4th thanks to a Jim Pasquine double and Mike Huber RBI single. The Mudcats added to that lead in the top of the 4th. Dylan Kugler doubled and moved to third on a balk. Zane Griffaton brought Kugler home with a safety squeeze to make it 2-0. Mudcat starter, Corry Ryan, held the Vipers scoreless through four innings but ran into some trouble in the 5th when his defense let him down. With 2 outs and no one on, Silvio Ionadi reached base on an overthrow. Devin Donaldson ripped a double off the centerfield fence to score Ionadi and cut the lead to 2-1. Mac Ciocco singled to bring home Donaldson but was gunned down at second trying to stretch his single into a double. In the 6th inning, Quinn Construction regained the lead. Dylan Kugler walked and Bert Kovalsky was plunked putting runners at first and second. Logan Simmons laid down a sacrifice bunt attempt but Kugler was thrown out at third for the first out of the inning. Kovalsky immediately stole third and then scored on a wild pitch making it 3-2, Mudcats. Allegheny Vision threatened in the bottom half of the 6th. With one out, another overthrow put Dave Boehme at first. Ryan plunked Nick Arnoni to put runners at 1st and 2nd. Just as they have all year, the Mudcats went to their bullpen ace, Griffaton. Griffaton allowed an infield hit to Adam Crawford that loaded the bases, but Griffaton came back and struck out Chase Palmer and Pat Connolly to end the threat and keep the 3-2 lead. The Mudcats added three more runs in the top of the 7th to pad their lead. Three walks, two HBP, and a Tarran Senay double pushed the lead to 6-2. Griffaton sealed the deal in the bottom of the 7th as he struck out two more batters to end the game and clinch the title.
