Mets Mash Ducks with 15-Hit Barrage in 7-5 Championship Game
On a warm August evening at Ross Park, the Cincinnati Mets unleashed a relentless offensive attack to overpower the Dayton Ducks 7?5. Despite Dayton jumping out early with a two-run first inning, the Mets answered back inning after inning, ultimately pulling ahead with a decisive three-run fifth and adding an insurance run in the sixth.
Brian Biggs led the charge with a perfect 3-for-3 performance, including a double and two runs scored. Kyle Hensley delivered the biggest blow - a clutch two-run double in the fifth that gave Cincinnati its first lead of the game. Joe Arnold added two hits and scored twice, while Brian Koury swiped a base and drove in a run.
Rick Reynolds went the distance on the mound, scattering nine hits over seven innings. Though he hit two batters, Reynolds kept his composure and struck out two to earn the win.
Dayton made a late push with two runs in the seventh, but the Mets' early consistency and deep lineup proved too much. With 15 hits and zero strikeouts, Cincinnati showcased disciplined, contact-heavy baseball that kept the Ducks on their heels all night.
This wrapped up the SECOND consecutive Roy Hobbs 50's League Championship for the Mets, suffering just 3 losses during their epic two-year run. With two of those losses coming against the Ducks this year.
