Condors win Thanks to Blink's Unique Save
In a battle of teams who have traded victories in the Fall season final the last 2 years, both were a bit shorthanded as they met for the 2nd time in 2025. This time it was the Condors turn to come out on top, in this long-running, and very fun "rivalry."
The Condors' Joe Blink got the start, pitched a solid 5, and, in a back and forth battle, left trailing 6-5. Billy Villiard took over, his 1st trip to the mound in over a year and a half. After catching Joe's 5, he got thru 3+ innings only giving up 1 run, taking a 3 run lead to the bottom of the 9th. When he lost the strike-zone and walked the bases loaded to start the inning, Blink tightened the Velcro on his K-2 kinetic shoulder sleeve and went back on the mound. After a 1-2 force at the plate, a K and nice 5-3 into the late afternoon Montebello sun (nice play Dave H!), Joe had the Save, and, after a pair of ugly losses, the Condors got back to .500
Blink also added a 3 for 5, as did Mike Johnson who included a dbl and 2 rbi. (And to complete a near perfect Sunday for the pair of them, even the Chicago Bears pulled one out at Cincinnati)
Shout out to Cubs' Hector Martinez, who got stronger as the game went on, struck out 5 Condors in a row over his last 2 innings, but fortunately for the birds, had to leave after 6 typically strong innings)
