Vipers 2 Arms Work Together To Shutout Bulldogs

The Allegheny Vision Vipers earned a hard-fought 1-0 victory over the Bulldogs on Saturday at John Herb Field in what many would consider the perfect weather for a baseball game. Vipers rode a dominant performance from their pitching staff and timely hitting to secure the shutout. The games' lone run came in the top of the third inning when Nico Knight delivered an RBI double, scoring what proved to be the difference in a tightly contested matchup. On the mound, the Vipers were outstanding from start to finish. Jake Seymour set the tone with a stellar five-inning start, allowing just two hits while striking out 11 batters and surrendering no runs. Matt Bamford closed the door with two scoreless innings of relief, striking out three and recording the games final outs to complete the combined shutout & earning the save. The Vipers pitching staff racked up 14 strikeouts on the day, consistently keeping the Bulldogs offense in check. Offensively, Knight paced the Vipers, finishing 1-for-2 with the game-winning RBI. Knight and Alex Arrigo accounted for the teams two hits, while the Vipers showed patience at the plate by drawing eight walks. Knight, Shaun Kellermann and Aaron Exler each reached base twice via walk to help the offense. The Bulldogs received solid pitching of their own, striking out eight Viper hitters and turning a double play defensively. Offensively, they also managed just two hits, with Stefane Mrkonja and Zach Gray each recording a hit.
