Netto's Wins 2-1 In Pitcher's Duel Behind Zach Karp
In what was probably one of the quickest 7-inning DNL games in recent history, both pitchers for each team had very strong outings. There were no relievers used in the game for either side. Justin Wright earned the loss for Aul Bat despite throwing 6 innings and only surrendering 2 runs. Zach Karp earned the win for Netto?s. Karp threw 7 innings, surrendering 1 run on 8 hits and striking out 3. After 4 scoreless innings, Netto's was the first team to get on the board in the bottom of the 5th inning, when the Snack Shack had 4 consecutive singles by Julio Rondon, Nick Burg, Karp and Matt Nowicki. Karp hit a ground ball down the third base line, that knocked in Rondon and made the score 1-0. Nowicki then followed with a line drive over the shortstop's head into left-center field, driving in Burg and making the score 2-0. Aul Bat remained scoreless until the top of the 7th inning. Colby Rockacy started off the inning on a bunt single. Then Pat Aul singled on a ground ball into right field, moving Rockacy to third base. After recording an out, Heath Mackulin reached on a single to first base and knocked in Rockacy, making the score 2-1 with Netto's still in the lead. Netto's starter Karp struck out the next batter, then got the final out with a fly ball to right field, holding the lead and securing the win for Netto?s. Netto's hitting was lead by Rondon, who went 3-3 with a run scored. Mackulin also went 3-3 for Aul Bat Company.
