Zane Griffaton Leads Mudcats To Victory
Mt. Lebanon jumped ahead in the top of the first inning off of Quinn Construction starter, Kenny Gault. Anthony Mincarelli singled to start the game and Caleb Weidman walked. Both came home on a Danny Clevenger single for a 2-0 lead. The Mudcats got one back in the bottom of the first and scored the tying run in the bottom of the 2nd to tie the game 2-2. Mt. Lebanon went back ahead 3-2 in the top of the 4th when a pickoff attempt went wild, allowing Mincarelli to score his second run of the game. In the bottom of the 4th, Zane Griffaton launched a double into the gap to bring home Jim Pasquine and Eric Morrison and regain the lead. Dylan Mallozzi followed that with a single that brought home Griffaton for a 5-3 lead. In the bottom of the 5th, consecutive singles by Aidan Munsie, Morrison, Griffaton and Mallozzi extended the lead to 8-3 and put the game out of reach. Griffaton came in to pitch in the 4th and completely shut down the Lebo bats for 2.1 innings of work. Mallozzi came in and mopped up the 7th. The game ended on a 9-2 double play as Munsie gunned down Weidman at the plate on an attempted tag up from third.
