Griffaton And Jellison Shine In Mudcats Win
Zane Griffaton did it all with his arm, legs, and bat. Jake Jellison drove in four runs in his DNL debut. The Mudcats jumped on Plum for four runs in the bottom of the 2nd inning. Jellison hit a bases loaded double to give Quinn Construction a 4-0 lead. The Pterodactyls responded with two runs in the top of the 3rd off of Mudcats starter, Caden Wills. Doubles by Caleb Lehman and Justin Sembower and a single by Colin Solinski cut the lead in half making it 4-2. In the bottom of the 4th, Griffaton lead off with a single and moved to second when Bert Kovalsky was plunked with a pitch. Griffaton swiped third and then scored on a Jellison sac fly, making it 5-2. Kenny Gault came on to relieve Wills in the fourth but ran into trouble in the top half of the 5th inning. Gault loaded the bases with three consecutive walks and the Mudcats turned to Griffaton. Griffaton got out of the jam by only allowing one of the runs to score and keeping it 5-3, Mudcats. That is the way the game would end as Griffaton silenced the Plum bats in the 6th and 7th to earn the save for Quinn Construction. Wills earned the win with 3 innings of solid work.
