Mets Overwhelm Gamblers 18-6 With Relentless Offense
The Mets' offense pounded out 19 hits and swiped 17 bases on their way to an 18-6 win over the Gamblers. A five-run third inning and a six-run sixth broke the game wide open as every part of the lineup contributed.
Marty Heckard delivered big, going 2-for-2 with a double and four RBI, while Joe Arnold stayed hot with three hits and three RBI. Brian Biggs had a perfect night at the plate with three hits and an sac fly RBI, and Brian Koury added two hits and three RBI of his own. Jeff Brokamp and Jeff Jackson each chipped in with multi-hit performances.
The Mets' aggressive baserunning again overwhelmed the Gamblers, highlighted by four steals from John Vogele, three from Biggs, and multi-steal efforts from several others.
On the mound, Brokamp worked five innings for the win before Heckard closed out the sixth. The Gamblers collected nine hits but couldn't keep pace with the Mets' constant pressure and clean execution.
