Mets' Early Offensive Barrage Powers 19-10 Win Over Tigers
The Cincinnati Mets 50s scored 17 runs over the first three innings and held off the Cincinnati Tigers 50s for a 19-10 victory Wednesday night at Riverside.
The Mets collected 16 hits and drew 12 walks, scoring six runs in the first inning, seven in the second, and four more in the third. Brian Koury led the attack with two hits and four RBIs, while Marty Heckard added two hits, three RBIs, and two runs scored. John Vogele, Doug Harlow, Dave Schultian, Joe Arnold, and Shawn Sloan also recorded two hits apiece.
Brian Biggs earned the win in relief, allowing one earned run over 3 2/3 innings while striking out two. The Tigers collected 12 hits and took advantage of five Mets errors, but the Mets' early lead proved too large to overcome.
