Mets Blank Gems 17-0 Behind 19-Hit Attack
The Cincinnati Mets 50s scored in each of the first five innings and rolled to a 17-0 victory over the TriCity Gems 50s.
Joe Arnold led the offense with four hits and two runs scored, while Brian Biggs and John Vogele each collected three hits. Vogele drove in three runs, and Jeff Brokamp, Dave Schultian, Scott Klimkowski, and Billy McDonald each added two RBIs. The Mets finished with 19 hits, including five doubles.
Biggs, Brokamp, and Marty Heckard combined on a two-hit shutout. Brokamp earned the win after allowing one hit over three innings and striking out five, while the Mets pitching staff recorded eight strikeouts overall.
