Sox Out Hit Again but Triumph in Comedy of Errors!

The Burlington White Sox were victorious against the Burlington Chihuahuas 9-4 on Thursday at Ireland Park.



The Chihuahuas came out hot and got on the board with 3 in the top of the first inning. Top free agent signing Alex Cutara led off with a single. An error put runners on 1st and 3rd. Zack Stylianou then singled to right field to cash 1. Yet another error would continue the inning (and push the score to 2-0) for rookie standout Ryan Wong. Ryan would then promptly double down the left field line, scoring the 3rd run of the frame.

The Sox would respond in the bottom half of the 1st. After 3 walks and 2 outs, Tyler Windisch would clutch up with a single to score 2. 3-2 after 1 inning.

The Sox would add another 2 in the bottom of the 2nd inning. Back-to-back singles from Ben Singh and Alex "Toons" Pallottini to start the inning. Sean Kretz would also single to load the bases with 1 out. Rookie Dante Federico would then execute with a sac fly to score Singh. An error would then plate the 2nd run of the inning.

In the top of the 3rd Nick Fader would show off the wheels and leg out an infield single. After 2 passed balls, Alex Cutara would follow up with his 2nd hit of the day to plate Fader.

In the bottom of the 3rd inning, Burlington would capitalize on some inconsistent pitching and defence from the Dawgs! Jordan Windisch would get plunked and advance to 3rd after a wild pitch and a passed ball. Tyler Windisch would walk which set up a legged out fielders choice from Josh Cossitt to plate Windisch. After Ben Singh also walked a run would score on an error to push the score to 6-4 Sox.



Dylan Grosul started on the mound for the Burlington White Sox. Pedro, in his first time throwing since October 2025, allowed 3 hits and 3 runs (0 earned) over 2 innings, striking out 1 and walking none.

Sean Kretz earned the win for the White Sox. The lefty reliever gave up 4 hits and 1 run over 4 innings, striking out 4 and walking 1.

Zach Stylianou took the loss for the Burlington Chihuahuas. The hurler went 5 innings, giving up 9 runs (6 earned) on 4 hits, striking out 5 and walking 9.


Sean Kretz also helped his cause at the plate. He went 2-for-3 to lead the Sox in hits. Tyler Windisch and Brett Graham each drove in 2 runs for Burlington.

Overall, the team had a strong eye at the plate, collecting 9 walks for the game. Tyler led the Sox with 2 walks.

The Sox stole an impressive 5 bases in the game. Toons led that charge with 2 stolen bases.

Alex Cutara set the tone at the top of the lineup, leading the Burlington Chihuahuas with 2 hits in 3 at bats.


Next up the Sox will travel down to Volunteer Field to meet up with the Dundas Chiefs for a first time match up! Game is scheduled for 8pm on Sunday May 31st.
