Sox Prevail In Thrilling Showdown Against Chiefs!

The Burlington White Sox snatched the lead late in their 2-1 victory over the Dundas Chiefs on Tuesday night at Ireland Park. The game was tied at one in the bottom of the 6th when Alex Davey induced Brett Graham to hit into a fielder's choice. A near double play was beat out by Graham to help the Sox take the lead and the win.

Most of the scoring in the game happened in the first inning. The Chiefs started the top of the first as lead off hitter Jordan Robinson was plunked. Silver Slugger (and leader of the tribe) Harrison Corsini would then fist a ball into LF for a single. Another single by Alex Rich put the Chiefs on the board with 1 run.

The Sox would have a response in the bottom half of the first. OBP master Jordan Stamp led the game off with a walk. Toons would then single on a ball (at his eyes) to left-centre to move Stamp to 3rd. Brett "Left Eye" Graham would then single to score Stamp and tie the game at 1.

Both teams were strong on the hill. The Sox staff struck out 10, while the Chiefs induced at least 10 flyouts.

Dylan "Pedro" Grosul stepped on the bump first for Burlington. Pedro had difficulty locating early but settled in for a dominant overall start. He gave up 4 hits and 1 run over 5 innings, striking out 4 and walking 1. Pedro was not able to secure the win on the day but from a pitching standpoint he certainly deserved it!

Alex Davey took the loss for Dundas. The hitchy starting pitcher dipped and doodled for 6 strong innings of work. He allowed 2 runs on 5 hits, striking out 2 and walking 4.

Jordan Stamp earned the win for the White Sox in elite form. The lefty pitcher absolutey shoved for 2 innings. He allowed 1 seeing-eye groundball single only. Stamp dropped the proverbial tomahawk on the Chiefs with 6 strikeouts and 0 runs.

Graham provided pop in the middle of the lineup, and led Burlington with 2 runs batted in. The right-handed hitter went 1-for-3 on the day.

Alex Pallottini went 2-for-3 at the plate to lead the Sox in hits.

Jordan Stamp stole 2 bases on the offensive side of things for Burlington.

The White Sox ran wild again on the base paths, piling up 4 more swipes for the game. However the Sox did run into their first caught stealing of the season. Benny managed to get the worst jump in recent memory and was promptly DOA'd by Chiefs backstop Christian Nunez!

For Dundas, Alex Rich went 1-for-3 on the day and plated the only run for the Chiefs. Harrison Corsini went 2-for-3 at the plate to lead Dundas in hits.

A stern warning from the Dundas Chiefs post game to the 4 time champs! They are not happy about the back-to-back losses to start 2026. They are on the warpath and coming for us!

Hand-to-throat gestures could be seen from across the diamond. We welcome the moxy and take note. The Dundas Chiefs are clearly a top team in the GHBL and hungry to overthrow the establishment. They want blood. We will see who is left standing after September!

Next up! The Burlington White Sox welcome the Hamilton Pirates on Thursday at Ireland Park, weather permitting!
