Moncur's White Sox Topple Fader's Chihuahuas!

Jack "Puerto Rico" Moncur collected 3 hits in 3 at bats as well as 3 RBIS for the Burlington White Sox as they defeated the Burlington Chihuahuas 15-5 on Sunday night at Ireland Park. This despite a huge day from Nick Fader who went 2-2 with a dinger to CF and 3 RBIs in the game! 2 monsterous innings defined the game as the Sox scored 5 in the 1st inning and 9 in the 4th inning.



The Burlington Chihuahuas were the first to get on the board in the top of the 1st when Nick Fader homered to center field, scoring 2 runs.

The Burlington White Sox flipped the game on its head in the bottom of the 1st, scoring 5 runs on 4 hits to take the lead, 5-2. The biggest blow in the inning was a single by Moncur that drove in 2 after a long battle with Stylianou. The inning started with a bang as Hodgson and Graham hit back-to-back hard singles up the middle. Cossitt Jr then walked to load the bases. An error scored the 1st run for the Sox and left the bases loaded for Moncur who after fouling off a ton of pitches hit a line drive single to RF to score 2. After a couple more walks Cossitt Sr hit a piss rod single to Right-Centre to score the 5th run of the inning.

The Sox added 1 run in the 2nd after Josh Cossitt doubled to center field. After 2 innings 6-2 Sox.

In the top of the 4th the Chihuahuas would cut the lead to 6-4. Call up Ellis would single. Ryan Wong then doubled off the fence to put runners on 2nd and 3rd. A single from the red hot Fader plated 1 run. A wild pitch plated a 2nd run. Then with Fader standing on 2nd and the heart of the little dog's lineup at the plate, the ageless #66 would get back-to-back punchies to the 3 and 4 hitters to end the threat!

The bottom of the 4th inning saw 9 runs plate on the way to a mercy victory for the Sox. Kretz led off with a single. After an error, Graham then singled to score Kretz. Cossitt Jr walked to load the bases. J-Lay would walk to score a run. Moncur singled to score a run. New guy Alex Gaudet would then single to score a run. Benny turned a ground ball into a hit (and a run) with a hard 90. "Texas Tall" McLaughlin would then pop his cherry with a hard single to RF to score 2. Grosul would single. Kretz would single a 2nd time in the inning to reload the bases but no further would plate.



Doug Chrysler earned the win for Burlington. The righty gave up 6 hits and 4 runs (3 earned) over 4 innings, striking out 4 and walking none.

Zack Stylianou took the loss for the Chihuahuas. The hurler went 1 inning, allowing 5 runs (3 earned) on 4 hits, striking out 2 and walking 3.

Kade Saker played mop up duty for the yappy pups. Primarily a catcher (but taking one for the team), the righty gave up 11 hits and 10 runs (2 earned) over 3 innings of work.

Dylan "Pedro" Grosul also entered the game on mop up duty. Looking to shake the rust off, Pedro threw the final frame for the Sox, giving up 1 run on 1 hit while striking out 1 to end the contest.



The White Sox collected 15 hits in the game. Moncur singled in the 1st inning, singled in the 3rd inning, and singled in the 4th inning to lead the Sox with 3 total hits. Graham, Kretz, and Gaudet each collected 2 hits for Burlington respectively.

Fader went 2-for-2 at the plate and led the Chihuahuas.



The Burlington White Sox have a busy week of games starting Sunday at home vs the Stoney Creek Snipers. They continue the home stand with a big game against the 2nd place Pirates on Tuesday and then finish the week against the Snipers on Thursday in Binbrook.
